New to mr2board.com

Hello,

My name is Ryan. Its my first post here. I picked up a 91t about three months ago with a head gasket problem and some other minor problems. But its up and running now. Hopefully you guys can help me with some of the minor problems I still have with the car. I'll post some pictures when I get some nice wheels.

Welcome to the board. We like stock wheels too, so feel free to post pics now. We like to see how a car has progressed too.

Hey welcome to the board. I have a question, when your headgasket was blown , can you explain what was wrong with the car, if it was smoking, sounds bad, etc

Before I bought the car, it already had a overheating problem. I wasn't sure what was causing the problem. The previews owner said he had the headgasket and timing belt gone a few months before I bought the car. So I was guessing it might just be a thermostat or bad radiator. Once I brought it home, I started the car up and I noticed that there was white smoke coming out from the exhaust. I checked both thermostat and radiator and they were fine. Checked all the hoses and they were ok.

To make it this short, the head bolts wasn't properly torqued. It was coolant mixing with the oil. I'm not sure if the previews onwer did it himself or was taken to a shop, but it was a generic gasket and belts. So I rebuild the top head and changed everything to OEM parts (belts, water pump, themostat, bearings, and etc). It took me weeks to decide to take the head out. I didn't know what was causing the car to overheat. If your having overheating problem, let me know if you have any other question. I can probably help you out. Thanks

Ryan
