What are you going to be using the car for? I wouldn't really want a beams personally. I think I'd rather have a V6 than a beams if I wanted NA performance. The gen3 spools pretty quickly, and has more aftermarket support than the beams. With not to much work on the Gen3, 250-275 whp is attainable. It wont be as nice of a curve as the Beams, but you'll be faster... unless you're doing autocross or something similar. Keep reading, the Beams isn't for everyone, and neither is the Gen3... although I'm sure some of the guys will dissagree with me there.

For a bolt-in swap, a Gen3 is hard to beat. Especially now that I've "experienced" the Gen2 first hand, I'm a big Gen3 advocate.

For 95% of people out there, a Gen3 with some basic bolt-ons is the best route to go....for so many reasons.

Does 5,555 include the price of the gen3 clip and the swap itself done by CRW?

If so, you guys will probably be hearing from me this summer.

Unless they need the car as a daily driver, and cant wait a long time for certain parts. Some of the parts for the Gen3 still aren't easily available in the us are they? Other than that, the Gen3 is perfect for getting to 300hp easily.

I bought all kinds of parts for my Gen3 through Champion Toyota and Partznet. Had them in a week or two and paid less than counter prices from your local dealership.

Parts are not a big deal...especially if you get a nice clip in the first place. If you are completely reliant on your car for transportation and helpless with a wrench...think long and hard about the car you've chosen.

(Then realize you're an MR2 freak like the rest of us and go buy a $1k beater B13 Sentra or something.)

this whole thread is pro Gen3...come on guys..the Gen2 with up to date maintenance is a pretty awesome engine. Granted the Gen3 is better out of the box....I'd say the Gen2 is cheaper to go for big power.

it is somewhat "pro gen3" but for some the gen3 is best suited. i do agree that for big power a gen2 is better suited but for the 300-340whp (easy-somewhat easy) range a gen3 is hard to beat for "out of the box" performance.

i'll still personally own gen2 powered MR2s

What you really have to decide is, have you driven enough MR2's to know what you want from it? Are you sure you won't change your mind?

If you know what you want, and are farily certain of it, I'd say pick your TURBO first. If you don't want anything bigger than an SB46/TD06, then a Gen3 would be ideal for you because it has enough factory fuel and ECU for 320-350whp (pump/race).

If you know you're one of those people that will always want to go bigger, don't bother with a Gen3. The Gen2 is cheaper and more convenient in every way.

The SB46/50, Td05/06 can both outfuel the gen3 fuel components. Choosing a turbo BIGGER than those than the gen2 is the way to go.

Eh, oh well though. My gen2 with td06 is loads of fun too

Cool, gen3 will handle it like it's a walk in the park only thing you'd need fuel wise is a better pump and you should be good to go.
