running in the 5-7k range, yet it takes double that to get a like condition
turbo. Is there a big enough equipment difference, that the turbo would
be the wiser purchase, only to turn around and pull the biggest difference
(the engine) out??? Or can these differences (cluster, fogs, brakes, ????)
be reasonably added to the NA.

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
the 93 w/LSD is a gen2 swap. gen3 swaps start at $1,000 more $$$ than the 93 gen2 + parts also cost more so factor in another $200 or so there additional (estimate).

would be wise to just get a turbo car to start out with...... i have a friend with a 1994 SMG turbo with a gen3 swap... currently has run 11.9 with these mods:
94 turbo, fully loaded, t-tops, etc.
KO SB 50 trim turbo kit
KO TKO 3" exhaust
GReddy intercooler
boost controller to 17.8psi (340whp)
ATS upgraded CV cages
ACT 6 puck clutch kit
borrowed BFG DRs for the 11.9 run.

currently adding:
AEM EMS + full tuning (John Reed)
FJO water/methanol injection kit controlled by the AEM

goal is 11.5 1/4 mile times every time out + overall reliability and driveability.

$17K fully tuned and ready to go with all the above mods.... is many more mods done (springs, struts, etc) which i haven't listed but a 94 with those upgrades for that price is dirt cheap IMO

That's quite a bit more power than I was looking for. I'm thinking in the 225
to 250whp range. I'm just wanting to get the best setup to use for a DD and
possibly some auto-x in that power range. If that's a Gen3 swap, and I can
do it with purchase of the car for around 15k, then great. If, at that power
level, I could do just as well with the Gen2, be as reliable, and probably a
bit cheaper, that's great too. Of course, I guess the ideal situation would
be to find a Gen3 that's already done for that price. I would be interested
in your friend's, but I would never use all that power.

Thanks

a gen2 turbo car or NA swapped to gen2 turbo will make the 225-250whp very easily and relaibly. mods i'd suggest for this would be:

intercooler
exhaust
downpipe
K&K stock style air filter or cone style something
MBC set to 15psi
fuel cut disabled

pretty simple to get where you want to be IMO
