I can't really see the CF 94+ panel selling. The weight advantage over the OEM piece is negligible, and the price is way more. Since there's no real advantage over the OEM piece weight-wise, why not just do a CF overlay, cut the price way down and sell many of them for what they are... really cool looking pieces

That could be looked into and understandable. I will discuss with Fule Design and see what he thinks about it.

Thank you for your inputs. We always listen to our Voice of the Customers. We will perform some analyses to determine the performance of the CF/Fiberglass construction of the garnish and change our design accordingly to meet customer requirements such as pricing, product quality and performance.

You're welcome, I'm sorry if it sounds like you're raining on your parade, but I'd hate to see you invest a bunch of money and effort into something that won't sell really well. Just so you know, on eBay there's a 94+ centre panel that's done in CF, probably an overlay given the price. Perhaps 91-93 pieces are a better bet- although lock cylinder relocation might scare some people off

The garnish that is on ebay is not properly designed. You need to do some fiberglass work on the back to provide the attachments (at least studs) for the reverse lamps and the tail lamps. Our design will be a full replacement (94+ models) without any further modifications. That is why our prices are higher compared to others found on ebay. Besides we stand behind our quality work and excellent customer service. For any reason if you are not satisfied with the purchase, we will offer a full refund including the cost of shipping the product back to us.

I wouldn't really care if the lock was even accessable anymore. You can always use the cable pull... at least until it breaks or won't work for some reason.

Greg

LOL that would suck if it broke and had no access to get back in there. But it does look so much cleaner without it.

UPDATE: FULE Design has taken both sets of my lights and will be starting on the process very soon. We also had discussed about how it is produce to adjust the price to suit differents customers satisfaction from full CF or Fiberglass and CF overlay. We also disscussed producing full fiberglass for the 91-93 garnish so it could be painted the color of your car or desire.

For the carbon fiber garnish, would you guys like the "MR2" logo molded/integrated with the garnish?

+1

The only modification to the lock cylinder should be having to get a longer one and re key it if you like. I am sure all would like to see it in the same location.

hey mr2insane, here are a couple pictures of the vmax door panels. I have always wanted a set of these. I thought I was buying a set on ebay, but when they arrived it turns out they were just carbon fiber cloth sewn and cut out to the shape but with no resin

How do you attach them on the door panels?

If you have a leather interior, you can just remove the leather panel and stick those ones on with some double sided tape. People with cloth door panels were still able to use them but to put them on people were cutting the heads off of bolts and then jb welding them to the back of the panels and then drilling holes in their stock panels and securing them that way.

nmonty,

If there is enough interest, we can start produce the Carbon Fiber door panel inserts/trims with built-in attachments to ensure proper fitment/functionality of the parts.

How much would it cost to do true CF dash inlays? Not just overlays, but replacement parts?

I think he is talking about something like this. I made these for my car. I used the stock pieces and fiberglassed over the ashtray and lighter and then covered the whole pieces in a carbon fiber top layer.

It will be very expensive to make a full CF replacement for that piece. We are not doing that piece in the near future.

Im still in agreement that a fiberglass 91-93 centerpanel will be the best seller out of all of the ideas posted.

I love the 94+ tails, but like others, would jump on a replacement centerpanel for my 93 tails ASAP if the price was alot less than replacing the whole light assembly.

Its not the light I disgust, its mostly the "honeycomb" panel.

Best of luck to you!

The mold for 91-93 center panel (94+ look alike without the reverse light holes) is being designed. We are in the process of concept selection. We have two options for the 91-93 center panel.

1) CF or Fiberglass panel that attach to the EXISTING honeycomb panel -> Look almost like 94+
- Carbon Fiber $170.00
- Fiber glass $140.00
2) Full replacement with integrated studs
- Carbon Fiber $230.00
- Fiber Glass $180.00
