guaging interest: CF 94+ center panel
I have a guy who has been doing CF custom parts and is in the process of doing a CF center panel in between the lights. I just need too know if anyone else would be interested. This is going to be full CF no fiber glass then CF cheap stuff. If i see a lot of interest he will help us do a group buy.

That's understandable, I just think it will be very hard for you to get any real interest without a ballpark figure. You basically have two scenarios; tonnes of people are going to say they're interested, until they find out the price, or no one will show any interest because they assume the worst..

Nice work. Why does everyone focus on upgrading 94+ tails or center garnish plates? There are other companies doing this already. I do not think the new look of the 94+ complete set up justify's the cost it takes to get there for a 91-93. Money is not an option to me but cost vs. asthetic appeal are. Of course those are two factors that vary differently based on each individuals preferences and budgets. But for me I am soon to have a lot of extra parts in the tail light area because I just do not like the current options out there yet. I have 3 sets of tails, two garnishes and one on the way and I still do not think I will be happy with my results.
I think a good CF part to produce would be a center garnish for the 91-93 MKII's. I really would like to see another option here besides the stock "honeycomb" look. Imagine a smooth center garnish flush with the tails without those hideous rectangle cut outs for the reverse lights. An "MR2" logo pressed in would also add a nice touch. In fact, If you could take the logo to the board and just use the "M" the "R" in the shape of the birds head and the "2" and press them into the center of the piece, that would be pure genius. Even if you have to spend an extra $50 on a longer lock cylinder, I think that a ton of older MKII owners would jump all over this group buy. With the cost of the lock cylider, a new CF plate or fiberglas plate that could be painted to match the color of your car would give you a smoother more flowing and modern tail light area for under $200. Alot better than $400 to $700 to swap from 91-93 to 94+s. Please do it, I will be the first to pre-pay on the group buy. |

I was also discussing the center panel for the 91-93 center panel, but we have not decided how the design would be for the center panel to make it flow. If you have some ideas try to get a photoshop pic for me and ill present it to him and then guage an interest.

I'm on board with the 91-93 center panel. I think if you could get at least the shape to look like the 94+, that would be sweet! I wouldn't need the reverse lights in it either. Showing the MR2 through would be cool too.

I had just got the prices he said 5+ for $250 or 10+ for $230 shipped within the US. The turn around time will be 3-4 weeks for this project. This will be a full replacement piece with proper attachments without any further modifications accept swapping a few parts such as hard wares and reverse lights.

not bad for those with a CF desire...
I think a pre painted BLACK fiberglass piece, and a CF option for the 91-93 tails would be pure genius! Id assume there would be much more profit involved if one could finally satisfy the 91-93 owners w/out having to spend 400+ |

) To get the look just right I would have to use both my 93 and 94 piece to make some sort of a hybrid version. The problem is that the lower 1/2 inch piece of molding on of the 93 tails give the illusion that it comes all the way across. I am not sure if it would look better with it gone in the middle or somehow mount a plate over the 93 center and keep it there. What I do know is that if you do not have the proper cutting tools and try to cut a long horizontal straight line it comes out looking pretty "ghetto." I have a Rogue center on order and will be trying to get the look I want with that one.I have searched for 93- tail centers and only seen one that looks like a reflector. I will try to post a pic of it later if I can find it again. |

Thank you everyone for your interests as well as good discussions around the 2nd gen. tail light center panel. My name is Le. I am the guy who will do the Carbon Fiber work that MR2INSANE metioned in the first message. We at Fule Designs have done a lot of carbon fiber parts for our customers' show car. Based on the discussions, we can see that the interest is not only on the 94+ CF garnish but also on the older model as well. We decide to make the garnishes for both 91-93 and 94+ model if there is enough interest. We only require minimum of 5 for each garnish model. The pricing information is as followed:
1) 91-93 full CF garnish (lock cylider relocation might be required) $230/piece with 10+ pre orders, $250/piece with 5+ pre orders 2) 91-93 fiberglass garnish (lock cylider relocation might be required) $170/piece with 10+ pre orders, $190/piece with 5+ pre orders 3) 94+ full CF garnish $230/piece with 10+ pre orders, $250/piece with 5+ pre orders Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. |

As nice as that stuff looks, I can't justify the cost. I can get whole new 94+ tail lights for $300. I will try doing a fiberglass version on my own. Don't have a show car.

This guy will make sure it is done right. From first hand view his products are very nice and his main priority is quality. $250 is a pretty good price considering the CF sortage problem and plus how many companies out their make there stuff full CF and have good fitment. EX: raceonusa do a search on them and see how many ppl customers were dissatisfied with their products and they were not full CF.
