Bodykit -rear bumpers

Looking for some ideas guys / gals,

My baby is booked into a bodyshop for 2-3 months to get the whole thing re-sprayed and looking spot-on.

This includes replacing my awful fit Bomex copy bumper (though I LOVE the shape of it) for a Rogue Rev 6 front bumper which I will be happy with the fit. It's similar to the Border front but without the single light cluster each side -there's small round side and indicator lamps separately instead. It'll fit my rev 6 quad low-rise headlight kit quite well I think.

I've got Border side skirts (nice deep flat line along the side of the car) and Border rear spat / add-ons on the rear bumper -which never really followed the shape of the bumper, and seeing as I only fitted them temporarily to make the car look finished enough for summer, they will be coming off. I hope I got the names of the parts right there. The side skirts 'aint coming off BTW.

...question is, is there ar rear bumper (complete) available with lines which I'm looking for? Or at least a GRP bumper which can be smoothed / filled / added to, rather than having a stock plastic bumper with GRP add-ons bonded and smoothed? I thought a Vielside/vader bumper could be filled and profiled something similar. Horrible as it is in stock shape IMHO.

Having been through it all about guaranteed fits etc. with another (different) board member / supplier (my original starting point a year ago), I'm looking fior something which will fit or even be close so any help much appreciated -even at the window shopping stage.

I'll post-up more pics soon but here's one of a profile of mine (before I fitted the spats but still showing the skirts). And there's a link to the Rev 6 bumper also.

Rogue Systems - Revision6 Front Bumper (RMG Developments)

..the idea is on something which follows the lines of the car -although I admit the rev 6 bumper is pretty different.

Nobody got any ideas on this or have I posted in the wrong section? The guy who's doing the work for me is less happy about smooothing-in GRP add-ons to thermoplastics. I'm not sure whether he should be as I've seen loads of show quality cars done this way but seeing the car's he's done (incl. Rollers) I'll give him the benefit.

I personally am not a fan of the rev 6 bumper. My opinion is that certain bumpers only look good in certain colors, so I don't know about the border style either for you. I love how the bomex looks on your car. If you want my opinion, I say find a better quality bomex. The rev6 bumper with the quad lights just makes too many circles on the front. For a rear, I think a good Tom's replica would look killer.

Jason, thanks for the reply. I kind of agree with you in as much as the Bomex is THE bumper for the MR2 combined with deep, flat side skirts.

Actually I held-off the rev 6 bumper initially as was worried about the shape but by coincidence there is a review in MR2 Only mag of a car the same colour / year as mine with one and I think it looks better than I originally thought it would. I'd agree, the Border front (original or modified like the rev 6) doesn't suit allot of cars I've seen them on -colour makes the difference.

Problem was the Bomex I bought was from a guy supposedly s**t hot on MR2 mouldings -but I'm not sure myself and the whole set caused me way too much grief and it wasn't cheap so I'm happier to accept something not my No 1 choice for better quality items.

Rear bumper wise, I was looking again and I think the Toms rear would do if it's the one I'm thinking of -Though I'm not too sure. Sometimes I think it gives the car a fat ass, bit like the spats I've got on mine now.

I don't think I can find anything complete in the UK -I might go for the Rogue type P add-ons as it looks like they re-use exiting bolt holes at the bottom of the bumper. I sort of managed to merge 2 pictures and think it looks OK but not totally sure yet.

This is the TOM's rear:

Thinking about it a little more, A full TOM's kit could look absolutely great on your car. The teal would really accenuate the lines of both the kit and the car.

What sides do you currently have? It looks like maybe greddy or border w/ aeroware vents.

I think the tom's side and rear (they blend together really well across the wheel opening) are the best for any shade blue. The tom's front is 2nd place behind the bomex, but in my opinion, still nicer than the rev6 for the blue. Rev 6 is a local manufacturer to you, so their price is probably more appealing. I'm not familiar with any importers in the uk or scotland. Maybe your local boards would be of more help in that aspect.

I've got Border side skirts
(although they're hybrids -whatever that means, there's that many different names for similar stuff)

The TOMs side skirts are too cluttered and look like stick-ons rather than part of the car, mine aren't coming off anyway. Sorry -TOMS front is awful IMHO -does nothing for the car at all.

I do like the TOMS rear though -but it can look a bit heavy. I think it does look good across the back of the car. It's a toss-up between that one -but with it squared-off / flattened at the sides round the bottom near the wheel arch, and those add-ons. I think a modified TOMS rear might suit Aquamarine quite well.

I'm a big fan of the phoenix power rear splitters. Rogue Systems has replicas of these.

IMO the ev6 front bumper is fugly. Border looks much better.

Well I've decided now, got the Rogue Rev 6 bumper and the rear spats from the same place. The parts should be here in about a week now. The Toms rear bumper gives the car too much of a fat ass for me. More concerned about the fit so I checked out one of the guys cars at Rogue and made sure I was happy with the kit before I placed the orders.

I think the Border front or border variation fronts are a bit like Marmite (maybe a UK phrase) -like 'em or loath them. Same with any other body kit, the colour makes a huge difference.
