I had a problem like that when attempting to install OSX on my roomate's iMac after it crashed.

It was a hardware conflict of some kind with my install. Wouldn't even install Ubuntu either, but I did get it to boot to the virtual system with Ubuntu, leading me to believe that it is a problem with accessing the hard drive. It's worth it to note that if I let it sit long enough on the spinning disc screen it would have a Kernal Panic and freeze.

lol @ mac

I want OS X on my HP for 2 reasons:

1) I work for a software company that makes software for Macs, so having it on my desktop replacement PC laptop would enable me to work literally anywhere I have a Verizon Wireless signal.

2) I'd love to boot up OS X on this bitch when my buddy thinks he's bad ass booting Vista on his MacBook with Bootcamp.

Alas, I have tried and ended up where you are.
