Wireless Router Help

Okay, having an issue with my other laptop and its pissing me off. I brought it to Fiji and I come back to find that its not connecting anymore to my wireless router. So, I delete the wireless profile, reset the damn thing, and redo everything.

I get to the WEP key which I have, and It says the wep key is invalid.

I open up my router settings and and its correct. So I say screw it, I reset the router and was able to connect unsecured with both laptops.

So, I redo the WEP key, insert it into my laptop while trying to connect, and it says its wrong.

So I take my other laptop, insert the new wep key, and no problems, I'm typing this out now on it.

I try the WEP key again, fiddling with the caps lock and whatnot.....And I get nothing.

So does anyone have any ideas? This is annoying not being able to get on the internet on my nice laptop.

mind you ive deleted the network profiles on both laptops, and redid them. I did the exact same thing to my Toshiba, as I did to my Alienware...and got nothing except a little popup sign from windows say F#ck Off.

I prefer to be using a little security while I am browsing the internet, god knows I don't need people seeing how much porn I look at.

Are you using windows networking to connect via the laptops wireless or another program?

Are both laptops using the same OS? Have you tried changing the security type?

Since it seems you've limited it to being your Alienware, obviously you can rule out your router.

Sounds like it could be a driver related issue. Go to the device manager and try the roll back on the driver, in case it was updated for some reason.
Else,
Completely removing the ethernet driver on your Alienware (my comp > properties > device manager > find ethernet > uninstall), restart, and reinstall the driver directly from a mobo disc or from the Alienware support site (download it on your Toshiba and transfer it) - which will most likely ask you to restart again.

Otherwise try looking into other ethernet related issues between the two machines and find the oddball.

I will give that a try

However I just connected through my router directly via a Lan cable....so I don't know what the deal is. I think I will scratch my head at this tomorrow.

Well if that is the case either it is set up wrong (which I doubt since you set the other one up fine), there is a driver problem, or your wireless card just took a crap on you.
