Drag racing launch

What's the best way to lauch on a drag strip?

I own a 91 mr2 turbo (non-lsd) but not sure how to launch it quickly. If I attempt to spin the rear tires to keep rpms up it bogs out on me.
Slipping the clutch is just too damn expensive to replace.
or do I just pull away at normal rpm's, say 2000-2500rpm, and then floor it just as I'm letting the clutch all the way out?

I'm use to front wheel drive with lsd (integra type-r); in which case I rev to about 4500rpm, and let the tires just slightly squeal as I launch...which seemed to work best for the first 60ft.

From what I've learned on my own, you have to launch it at 4500+ RPMs or you will bog out. Hell I felt my heart sink into my chest when I did it right the first time. If your not at least getting 2.0ft 60', then pop the clutch at 4,000 RPMs to get the feel of it.

I'm doing this with a 91' Turbo as well.

Alot of this depends on what type of flywheel/clutch setup you have as well.

yeah i have had the comp clutch ironman and now the phoenix power clutch, and i feather both at around 4500 rpms works great, otherwise, just start from a dead stop like your leaving a light if you dont want to wearout your clutch. btw, i shattered my stock clutch doing 3 launches in a row, that thing heated up quick.

I didn't understand this part of your comments Tearstone:
"If your not at least getting 2.0ft 60'..." What's the 2.0ft 60' mean? I know the first section of a drag strip is 60' but what's the 2ft part mean?

I did try to launch at about 4200rpm before, it still bogged, guess I didn't do it right.
