Im learning myself but try this out from noshoes:

I have a fidanza flywheel, so I have to launch higher than a stock flywheel equipped car. On a stock flywheel at the dragstrip:

Bring your rpm up to 5500. (On a fidanza flywheel equipped car, I launch at 6500rpms.)
When YOU are ready to go, begin letting out the clutch slowly.
When the clutch grabs, and the car begins to lurch forward, THEN apply more gas.
Picture yourself trying to go up a hill. This all happens REALLY fast, and it is sometimes hard to tell the difference in between a 2.0 60 foot and a 1.90 60 foot, but once you hit a 1.8 or better, you REALLY start to feel it.

If you are on the street, subtract at least 1000rpm from your dragstrip launch rpm. The track is MUCH stickier than the street

I get consistent 1.8 60 foots, and here is my technique:

Rev to 5500 rpm.

Leave at last yellow on the tree.

When ready to leave, drop the clutch! I dont feather it at all, because I dont want to ruin my clutch, I just DROP IT! and SMASH ON THE GAS!

That will net you a 1.8 60 foot.

Street, I usually launch at 5000 rpm or 4500 rpm, and drop it.

I never had wheel hop. I have polyurethane motor mounts. But my last drag racing event, I launched way to high (6000 rpm) and started hopping, and I gave it even more gas, and snapped an axle. This is on a stock gen ii with a MBC. So when u get alot of hop, just let off the gas, and save yourself some future trouble.

O and my best time to date is 14.2 stock at 2200 ft.

When im in the waterbox, it sends me sideways.

When I actually am staging and launch, it doesnt send me sideways to much, only a little bit. I believe the spin a bit, but not alot. Samething on the street.

Im riding on 17' rims on 215/40/ZR17 Yokohama AVSES100's

Would you really? Not me, I would taken broken axles any day.

Axles only take 30 minutes to swap out.

Tranny, basically needs half the engine dropped out. And takes alot longer.

And you can upgrade your bearings with the ATS upgrade, and not have to worry about breaking axles ever again.

well i already have replaced my clutch with a spec stage 1... from slipping/feathering the clutch people have seemed to pull off better times than to spin their tires... i guess its cause i read more people complain that somethings wrong with their tranny after they dump the clutch... also a clutch to me is much cheaper than axles... i am still in high school and dont have full time jobs like most people do on the board... when somethings wrong with my car it takes a long time to get it back up and running... im sure some of you understand the high school days...

Yup, just got out last year, and am in college.

But I would still say the axles are cheaper.
