I FINALLY made it to the track....
And it was a good outting. I was on Bridgestone Potenza RE050 street tires street pressure full weight. Basically I got home grabbed my helmet and fire jacket and headed to the track. I cut some great 60's for being on street tires. 1.72 was the best. A video will be coming tomorrow hopfully of my last pass....
First pass Was good for the first time being at the track in over 2 years and on street tires and never have driven this set-up at the track. This pass was at 20psi and meth..... Oh I missed second on this run too. Well actually I couldn't hear much with my helmet and I thought I missed second but really didn't so I let off and reshifted yada, if I hadn't it would have been high 11's for sure. I'm car # 598. I ran a 12.006 @ 116.53 with a 1.72 60ft. ![]() Second run was not that good. I bogged big time off the line and the 60' showed. I cut a 2.0 60ft and ran a 12.565 again at 116.41mph ![]() The third pass I raised the boost to what I was hoping was 22 psi. I hate this MBC (didn't have time to get my EBC hooked up and set). Well turns out it really was 23.5psi in 4th. heh This was the fastest run but I knocked at the end and it hurt my time. Pisses me off because it was a 12.000. You can't get any closer to an 11 than that. The fat man running the tree could have farted at the line and I would have ran an 11! If I didn't knock at the end of 4th gear I would have hit an 11.9 at least, probably an 11.8 or 11.7. But I didn't so be it. 1.775 60ft and ran a 12.000 @ 116.74mph. ![]() All in all I'm happy with my first outting. I'm installing the the MSD 2-step, axle cages, extended studs the Blitz dual solenoid EBC and hopefully tuning some more with a little more meth before next friday when I go to the track again. This time with my CRW drag wheels and BFG drag radials. Cut some 1.5 60's and run low 11's! I know my mistakes and I will try and fix them next week. haha Enjoy.. Oh my friend just sent me the video as I posted. In this video it's my 3rd run and final run. The roush stg. 3 jumped the light and red lighted actually. He launched right as the 3rd yellow light lit up. lol Anyways, all you really see is me launching. I didn't power through first long enough and bogged second so that hurt my time as well. That and the knocking at the end held me back from my 11 second pass. Oh well ____ happens.... Sorry for the quality of the vid, it's the best I could get tonight. ha

I would rev to around 5500 then right as the third light hit I floor it and did a slight slip then dump. (The slight slip was just to build a little boost and have a quicker lauch without spinning.....as much heh) I also shallow staged which helped my times but hurt my rxn times but who's gives a **** about rxn times unless you are competing heh.
Thanks guys! Next time I'm running my full drag set-up (CRW drag wheels, skinnies and BFG DR's 275/50) and hopefully around 40whp more and about 200lbs less. Flat 11's or bust with 2step! ![]() Last edited by MR2_Josh; 09-15-2008 at 02:24 PM.. |

Deep staging will effect the ET but not the reaction time on a full tree unless of course you chose to leave at the same time you do on a shallow stage.

Sorry I mistyped, I meant shallow stage. Where I creep and stop right as the staging light it lit.

That won't effect reaction time either but I found it was much easier to stage the car consistently.

It will effect rxn time slightly but benefits everything else. The reason for this is it take more time to get through the staging light. It's actually discussed everywhere that deep or shallow staging will effect rxn time, ET, 60' etc.

There are many websites I found saying the same and here are a couple of the first ones that came up.
This discusses it right bellow the christmas tree pictures. Modern Racer - Driving Tips - Drag Racing Basics Scroll down to shallow staging Camaro / Racing / Tip #2 I've read about it in SCC magazine many times over. |

If you read your first link carefully he states that it will effect the reaction time with all variables constant, i.e. you leave on the same light sequence regardless of where you stage. Only a rank amateur of monkey would do this. For example with my hypothetical car I might leave when the last amber is on while shallow staged while leaving when it is going off when deep staged. If you don't know where you are staged and when you will leave on the light your reaction times will not be consistent. For clarity all my statements apply only to a full tree and not a pro start.

Fact of the matter is, shallow staging increases all times minus rxn. You are missing my point. I wasn't competing heads up with anyone at the risk of elimination where your rxn time matters on cutting a good et and winning....

I may have missed your point but it does not invalidate mine. If you know your car and yourself you can stage anywhere you want and it will not effect your reaction time because your going to alter when you leave.
