V6 Drag Run

Thought you guys might appreciate a video of my 2 runs at Santapod on Saturday. I managed a respectable 14.67 & 14.77 with both runs having a sub 2 sec 60ft time. Anyway enjoy the vid

Nice runs, but I thought a V6 should at least hit 13s

Everyone says we should hit 13's or 12's. I am not a drag racer, my 60' times are crap; and I miss a shift most of the time; and I was on crap street tires. 14 flat, time after time with 3.8lbs of boost. I also tore the transmission away from the engine mount!
I now have sticky tires, a better fuel pump, LSD, and more seat time. Maybe the next time I'll satisfy the "shoulda" crowd.

Poohhbear9044: Great runs. I look forward to more runs for both of us, and to the non V6 guys cutting us some slack.

Lol....I thought my time as an NA V6 was fairly respectable, out of 4 V6's running that day I was the quickest and I also beat some turbo MR2's....obviously not quick enough

Good run, the S-54 (which I'm assuming your using) really hurts the times because the motor gets out of its powerband so fast.

Was it wet on the track? CAuse 14.6 and head work done seems kind of slow. I got a 98 svt 4 door contour with a 3L swap. Pretty much factory besides headers and exhaust and tuned and ran a 13.9....

1. Not a wet track but a very strong headwind..everyone's times were a bit down.

2.It was a turbo rx-7 and I had him beaten up to the 1/8 mile marker

I am using the S54 which gave me some damn good launches but as you say runs out of steam a little at the top end.

dont have any vids of mine but last time was a 13.3 with suckey 60's. I suspect wither better tires (15's street tires) and a new 3rd gear syncro the car should be a high 12. That with the 1mz on a 7lb pulley and s-afc tuned

Sounds pretty bad ass JDM. Im thinking of putting maybe a 7psi turbo on my 1mz VVT-i im about to drop in mine. You ever going to put any boost on urs pooh? I think you would benefit from ported heads more than you would in NA form

Which iteration of the v6 are you running?

No plans to put any boost on the car, probably going to go down the route of having some tubular headers made up with equal length downpipes to the exhaust muffler and a standalone ECU (not sure which yet) so that fuelling and mapping can be properly done rather than relying on the Camry Auto map that it's currently running on.

For an engine that came out of a low state of tune car like the Camry I think the performance is pretty damn good....it is way way quicker than the 3S-GE that was in there before and that was no slouch. So I'm happy to develop the car as an NA for now as I like the way the power is delivered and it is more than quick enough on the roads I mostly get to drive.

Hell as long as its fater than what was in there and ur happy then thats all that matters. I got a slightly built 3sgte and im putting in a 1mz vvti just because I love the power of my contour svt that the v6 has. The power is there in just about any rpm vs's the 4 cylinder waiting on boost, or just the fact even though its probably faster it just doesnt feel like it has the nuts the v6 in my svt does.
