Hey
Go to the Road race sub-forum and check out my video. You will find me running with an LS2-powered RX-7 on the straight. He's at 2600 lbs and 370 whp. I am at 2250 lbs and 266 whp. He only pulls a car or two down the straights btw.
Just letting you know that your goal is definitely possible. Patrick |

**updated first post as well**
To summarize what the exact setup i will have is (they always change, we all know that haha): Forged Motor Ported Heads w/oversized valves Borg Warner S256 machined for stock manifold. 38mm internal gate routed to downpipe w/~16psi spring Stock Cams Possibly intake manifold if I feel good enough spending the money KO Racing intercooler w/Synchronic BOV Intercooler cooling fan and dual engine bay cooling fans Walbro 255 in tank fuel pump Walbro 255 inline fuel pump Steel braided fuel lines (eventually will get teflon coating for e85 longevity) Wolfkatz side feed fuel rail Sard 800 Low impedence injectors AEM ecu AEM wideband GM boost solenoid No AFM wet nitrous kit w/safety stuff 3" exhaust (berk catback) Stage 3 clutch (PO purchase, don't know brand) front solid motor mount Lightweight flywheel Plan ro run E85 and a ~50 shot of nitrous (need to install nitrous through aem but still on a switch?). Will rev up to roughly 8k rpms. Want to hit the half century mark power wise (intake mani may be mandatory for this). That should do it i believe. Nothing else of true importance that I can think of. |

things u must have and if not your either gonna blow up the motor or u will never put it in the 10s
new turbo intercooler fuel system(injectors 86lb is good... top feed... u can run a 255 intank and touch 10s... but u will need bigger lines and a FPR) headstuds always a good idea pistons camsprings and retainers something to tune on (map is cheap but doesnt give u much room to mess around) FYI intake manifolds make a world of difference.... the more u open the motor and more boost the more u will see.... dont listen to the BS of peple saying oh well you only gain this.... for example my old mainfold i pulled 43HP on the new one i just built i pulled 67hp on |

tail wastegate i have actually intergraded it into the turbo itself F1 style for those of you who know.... i used to do i on the top but it just looked good lol.... by moving it under it keeps temps way down and give some room... by having no dump pipe... having heat father from intercooler and hard pipe....
and if you were wondering about the ignition... i do not run on the cap... these coils r supra coils lol.... giving me the ability to tune one on one with the EMS... no more dealling with ****y cap and rotors from the 3sgte |

u can go as big as u want if u have real suspension in the rear... if ur planing on the dragging the car u should lift the ass way up.... i run a 60 MT at the track and that is huge.... and the wheelie deal... if u have a pretty strong tranny and axcels... a set of billet CVs and wheel studs and a good clutch will seal the deal lol.... people get crazy with axcels i pull my car out the whole on close to 750hp with stock axcels and ATS CV s |

Thanks for all the "confident" posts.
I'm pretty happy in what my setup will be now. I've changed a few things and it will be set up properly. I'm not making this a drag car at all. It will still have fairly decent spool characteristics and has a good handling suspension. There is no way i'm going to put a drag suspension and overkill tires on it. I'm wanting to know what will fit with stock style upgraded suspension. The key to this car is it will be running at bandimere speedway. This is 5800+ ft elevation. Last time i was at the track, the DA was 8300+ ft! Runnig 10's here is like running near 9's elsewhere Last edited by MDoe8; 11-17-2009 at 05:48 PM. |
