5k budget
So I have a 1991 non turbo mr2 waiting for me to swap it's engine. It's bone stock and was wondering what's the best engine I can get for 5k for the engine itself not including labor.

Is this engine/trans or just engine, Are you wanting something that bolts right it or do you mind work to get mounts in place, etc?
As for direct bolt in if you are wanting power I would say Gen 3 3s-gte and take the left over funds for engine buildup. |

yea for sure if your budget is 5k, buy a 3sgte and tran for like 2k and you'll have plenty left over to mod it over 300hp easy

If is wanting to drag race the 3sgte is likely a better option for him, its faster.

If you want a full Gen3 3sgte swap let me know, we're selling Gen3's now and have a few ready to ship. They'll come with the LSD transmission, motor, ECU, full uncut wiring harness, ct20b turbo, and everything you need to get going.

You outta start selling the complete package with everything done. Wiring harness already swaped, hoses necessary, etc. That's what I'll be looking forward to when I get the mk2 project. I wouldnt mind a complete P&P kit. Just thought I'd share my $.02.

Just some FYI for you, i ran a 7.9 @ 91 in the 1.8th mile on a bone stock 3rd gen with EMSpowered S252 turbo kit.
More videos on my account. Those 1/8th times are about a 12.00 flat in the 1/4 and that is a BONE STOCK 3rd gen with the S252 running 17psi. It easily has a high 11 in it with some good tires. I now have an AEM stand alone, about to get some meth and possible cams and i will see what it will do with that. Then i will try the S256 and see what it does! Just have to fix my tranny first :-( |

Thanks, it was a good pass but far from perfect. On a perfect pass as it sat i should have been able to hit at least a 7.7 on the tires i had and lower with some slicks. That is a high 11 in the 1/4 mile.
Not bad for a virtually stock car. |

Also, if you've ever driven a properly setup gen2 or gen3 with a nice fast spooling turbo, you'd know that they are a blast to drive around town as a daily driver. And on top of that they get great gas milage when you stay off the boost because they are still a 4 cylinder. |
