What do you see when using Meth Injection BEFORE EMS changes?
Question to tuners who have experience with meth kits (RickyB, John Reed, etc)...
What is your process for tuning with meth in general? If someone already has a good map on 93, and wants to add a meth kit for higher boost and better IC'ing what is the normal procedure? Do you find that when upping boost and adding meth, that you need to add timing? Do you find that you have to take a lot of gas out, injector-wise, even when upping the boost significantly? Just asking questions before I take the plunge. I'm fearing that without an EMS, and just using meth+water, I won't make the power I'm looking for... though the Evo and STi guys have done this with great success on stock ECUs... I've talked to a few people and gotten two different answers... one said I would need a lot more timing, and the other said raising boost that high (25psi) that I'd need to take OUT timing... even with meth. Any insight? |

well ill leave this to the more experienced tuners as you requested, but another thing to think about is that sti's, evos, and even my 06 wrx, have variable cam timing. so it does all the timing for you.
generally when you up the boost you have to retard timing. meth inj. will let you get away with a little bit. |
