I ran across this piggyback on ebay. Could someone who owns one look at this link and tell me if everything that is needed is included. except a lap top of course
![]() eBay Motors: Perfect Power SMT6 engine management piggy back (item 280299211328 end time Jan-13-09 02:13:54 PST) What is all involved with using this system. Is dyno time a requirment. Is an experienced butt dyno an acceptable option. I dont know as of yet how to tune like this. My cousin does, but lives a ways away and we are both buisy people. |

How about something useful instead of just flaming me?! Sorry if I am still a little new to this stuff but give me a break man. I am on this sight to get a little help. I just asked for advice and you think I am trying to get someone to answer lifes questions for me. If you dont have something useful to say stop cluttering up this thread so as I might get the info I need, Thanks!

Theres a guy, not sure if he posts over here, but his username is mrturrari. I know you can find him at the other board, and I know hes at celicatech. He has an SMT6 installed on his 5S. He also overclocked his ECU for more rev limit, he has cams, a full forged build, etc.
He is like.. the godfather of the 5S at this point. Nodody I can think of can tell you more about it than him. |

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be a HUGE ****... but it does say OFF TOPIC and your topic is definitely not off topic seeing as it directly relates to MR2s and is on a website titled The International MR2 Owners Club (IMOC), but I'm sorry for being a jerk.
Just so you know, the SMT-6 is kind of a craptastic sequential with shift times slower than lots of people can do with a regular 5-speed. But it would be unique. |

2nd hand information right there, I heard a friend of mine who owns a Spyder talking about it. It could be he was trying to justify his purchase of a 5-speed, but I've heard most Spyder owners prefer the 5-speed to the SMT.

I posted this thread in Off Topic because the main point was about a link to an Ebay auction. one which will be nonexistant in 4 days making this a mostly useless thread.
Petc, I am guessing you never took a look at the link scince I think, you think I am talking about a transmition and not engine managment. I am not trying to be a d!ck eather. just explaining myself |

lol ohhhh yea.... thats why.. i was like what?!?1 lol faster shifting?!? lol well i dont know much but for now ive heard perfect power company is awesome. um.. and yes ive seen the kits and yes killermillermr2 the kit is complete if you search smt6 perfect power on google in the official website you can get the manual and install it. im sure of it.
edit: Perfect Power - SMT6 Smart Tuner 6 Piggy Back System this is the link to it. if you slowly read everything and look at the bottom or close to the bottom you'll see a download link for the manual and all other info u need. if i had the 100 dollars i would so get it! it goes for about 400-600 dollars new. ( i know because i asked for a quote) they even pre-pogram for 75 dollars. good luck and i hope i could help if you get it let me know! i want to know how it works so i can get that ones instead of the smt8 Last edited by fvillota; 01-09-2009 at 09:31 PM. Oh... LOL
I thought you meant the Sequential Manual Transmission, the 6-speed out of the Spyders. lol I never did look at the link... anyways, in that case I'm afraid I'm going to have to come off sounding like a jerk again. DO NOT buy a piggyback system, DO NOT buy an Air/fuel controller, do not buy ANYTHING that tricks the stock ECU into doing something it shouldn't. If you cannot afford to buy a full standalone and tune it (megasquirt is NOT that expensive or difficult) than you should not be trying to do what you're trying to do. They are just band-aids and are an incredibly stupid way to manage your fuel system, ask any racer, any real racer. It doesn't- Okay, but seriously, ask anyone who is serious about tuning and modifying cars and you will get the same answer. Just Don't Do It!
