Trunk Mount Intercooler "kit"
I've been working on various layouts for trunk mount intercoolers over the last 8-10 months trying to figure out the best way to offer a "kit" that would be a direct bolt-in. After a few different prototypes and various ways of routing the pipes and mounting the actual intercooler I've realized a couple of things:
* People that are at this level of modification will not always have their throttle body in the stock center feed location * Everyone has their own preferences as far as blow off valves, so the it would not be possible to offer a kit with only one BOV/flange * The cost of a 100% complete bolt-in "kit" is out of reach of the majority of people. So, today I was tossing around various ideas for this and came up with this. Let me know what you guys think. A kit including (possibly available seperately as well): * The intercooler * Vent shroud (to mount underneath intercooler for venting the air out) * Fan shroud * Fans * Mounting hardware So basically all you would need to do is get piping/couplers What do you guys think? Like I said before, great idea, and a better solution instead of getting a FULL kit, it's a huge hassle. Not sure if too many are willing to cut up their trunks

Of course not everyone wants to cut holes for pipes.
But then again, not everyone likes to remove their OEM stereo, not everyone likes to upgrade their turbo, and not everyone likes body kits. I'm not out to "convince" anyone to go with a trunk mount. But for those that do want to go this route, I'm trying to make it easier for them, and provide a solution that is known to be tested, known to fit, and known to work well. |

it'd be convienent to buy all the little pieces at once like that, even more so if there was a nice bundle price. but i'd think for people trying to piece together a kit at their house they probably worry most about the piping and mounting more than locating the components though.
i'd be interested in a price fo sho though... |
