CF Underbody Panels ??

I'm looking into a few different materials other than aluminum for our next batch of underbody panels. CF seems like best and easiest option. The final design/shape will be slightly modified from our previous batch of aluminum underbody panels to make installation slightly easier.

The main benefit for me would be that these weigh MUCH less and would be quite a bit easier to ship. Our main problem with the last batch was the difficulty transporting them.

This thread is to gauge interest for these and see what sort of real quantity we can sell in the next batch. If there is enough interest for 25 sets we will definitely be going through with this in a couple of months.

How would pricing compare? Also would be worried about the durability of said product from rocks and such flying up. Assuming it's not some uber-thin cheap stuff it should hold up pretty well yes?

i would say make plastic panels. i see no advantage to haveing a nother part that needs paint or can decay under my car.

I agree - I think these underbody panels could crack easily. Perhaps you could offer two styles that caters who care/who dont care about the aesthetics.

carbon fibber would be kind of nice. give any thought to layering CF over alum inserts in the bolt hole areas?

I think that would be awesome, but probably not within my budget at the moment. I am kind of frugal these days

CF underbody panels won't crack. The OEM panels are thin plastic. They won't shatter, they won't crack, they won't deteriorate. You guys are overthinking this.

Why would you want CF underbody panels? Who's gonna be under your car looking?

Seems like you're pushing the pointless meter to red. But if you wanna do it by all means go for it.

Aluminum underbody panels is more sensible.... Unless you molded in a venturi cavity for added down force.

My 2 cents.

The entire point of Carbon Fibre on a sports car is functionality through form. It's not about the "look" that the ricer industry has given carbon fiber, like you're referring to, but the fact that Baktash can have very strong, flat and lightweight underbody panels made. These would perform exactly like the aluminum version, all while being significantly lighter. Where's the pointlessness?
