Tash, info about the boost gague needed please
Can you get me a vac/boost/ scale for the boost sensor on the digital gauge?
Im interested in using that sensor to fuel my car using my powerfc but I need to know how it reads and the scale it operates on. Im sure you should be able to get ahold of this info. Let me know what you find. Such data might be helpful for other people as well. Just for people who arent aware, you can use any map sensor on a powerfc, and Im wanting to just use my boost gauges map sensor, since its supposed to be really accurate, it should work great for fueling my engine as well. Tash, what kind of sensor is it? 2 bar, 3 bar, 4 bar, 5 bar, what? Do you know? |

Luni,
I'm pretty sure the engineer who designed those for us has the specs on it, I'll see if I can get them from him in the next few days for you. |

YO! Im trying to map out all my stuff and I really want to get the specs on this thing. I know youre busy, etc, but it shouldnt take the engineer guy this long to get back with you. To me thats just bad business practice/communication.
So, bumping this Tash. Please get this for me. It doesnt seem like a hard thing for him to provide. |

I just got off of the phone with them and the answer is YES, you can use it to send a signal to more than one device. I'll be posting up the the formula/chart as soon as they email it over.

Good, I knew I could use it, I just need to know the info about it so I can scale my PFC to it.

Luni, here is what I just received back. Let me know if you need any further details:
"Pressure sensor details.. Given any measured voltage, V1, the absolute pressure in PSI is... P1 = (22.56 x V1) - 4.51 If the sensor voltage (say V0) is measured before the engine is started, the offsets will cancel when doing the math, so the boost pressure as we understand it (gage pressure) is.. P = 22.56 x (V1 - V0). If P above comes out to be negative, that's vacuum, in PSI. Multiply the result by 2.04 to get in-Hg. BTW, extra credit -- our gauges compensate these sensors for imperfect supply voltage, and your customers can do that too. Datalog the purple wire (+5V supply) and do that math with this... P = 112.8 x (V1-V0) / Vsupply Note that Vsupply may vary as the gauge operates, so Vsupply above represents the instantaneous supply voltage at the same point that the sensor output voltage is measured. That's really being picky though, so just use the supply voltage at the start." |

Wow.
I was looking more for a scale... Kinda like this one Can you also ask them what kind of map sensor it is? Like measurements in BAR? Like is it a 3 bar, 4 bar, 5 bar? |

It measures up to 70psi absolute pressure (70psi-14.7 = 55.3psi boost pressure)
BAR versus psi are just calculations. If you have a look at the formulas, its pretty easy to calculate the PSI values to the voltage value... and then if you need it in BAR, just convert that to PSI. If you have trouble with this let me know and I can help out. |

First question everyone is going to ask is why our sensor goes so high. The answer is because even the best MAP sensors such as the ones we use have great accuracy to a point. Ours has 99.8% accuracy up to around 50psi, from 60-70psi we get around 97.5% accuracy. After 70psi we get down to around 92% accuracy. This pattern is generally the same for all MAP & pressure sensors, except other OEM type sensors are even worse about it getting down into the low 80% range for accuracy. Let me know if you have any questions |

One thing that sucks I found out is the PFC cant scale that high. I think a 3.5 bar sensor is as high as it goes...
Thanks for the info though Tash. I really appreciate it. One thing I just noticed though, I think your scaling is wrong. Ive seen -22 vacuum on my gauge idle at sea level. According to your scaling thats impossible. |
