85-89 mr2, ae92 gts, ae82 gts, ae86 gts.... just need to make sure the distributor has the same ignition setup (there were 2 versions)

they are subtle, actually..... write down what the numbers are on your ignitor assembly and the ecu pinouts....

I'll have to look tonight. I do have two spare distributers. One has grey connectors and one has green connectors. The one on my car also has green connectors.

the differences are obvious if you look inside the distributor.
To my knowledge, the largeport 4A-GE has four "pins" on the camshaft position sensor, while the 4A-GZE and smallport 4A-GE use a thirty-six pin (IIRC) camshaft position sensor. The camshaft psoition sensor is a hall-effect magnetic pick-up system built in to the distributor. There is also a second sensor in the dizzy with one pin, to simply count engine revs, in both versions. edit: I also believe the plugs are different, where the "four pin" version has a circular socket and the "thrity-six pin" version uses a square socket. |
