Wow... someone had the same idea as me.. haha.

For the past two+ years I have been thinking about doing the same swap. I may beat you to it, but with some differences. (biggest reasons being.... I have money and I'm not married)

At first I was thinking busa motor, but over the last 6 months I switched to the newer Honda CBR1000RR motor. The motor's power and hondas quality speak for themselves.

As far as the chassis and drivetrain go.... 85 hardtop extremely stripped. Things like glass and wiring go too. All the wiring. All of the long and large stock cooling system would be chucked too. One of the great advantages of switching to a motorcycle engine is that it is easy to lose all the bulky accessories and cooling system the MK1 originally comes with. ( under 1900 should not be out of the question).

My biggest weight concerns are drivetrain weights. I am still unsure how much drivetrain weight factors into the Honda transmission reliability.

Also to note: Some people with SMART car motorcycle swaps have retained the chain setup for the drivetrain in the car.

As far as weight savings from this swap compared to a silvertop go.... I'm not sure the total savings would make it perform amazingly better..... however, it would be unique and sound like a f**king F1 car.

It is a lot of "unsures," but I am also rather determined to try. I am ready to fail too, but that’s how I like to gamble.

My only prob is that I won't be back to the USA until March of 09. It is easy to shrug me off as someone who just talks a lot, so I am posting some of my past projects to give myself some credibility besides being a random cat who posted once on the forum... haha peace

Unfortunately I have no pics of my first gallant vr4 or my MK1 87.5 mr2. As far as swaps go I have performed and owned a few 240sx swapped cars, but this would be an entire new ball game for me… so I am a bit scared, but F it.

My first 240sx swap was a CA18det… my crustiest swapped car…

Second was a sr20det swapped 240sx

Third and more recent was this puppy

I still own this one…. 85GTS the second car I painted by myself in my garage.
Behind it was my 3rd Galant VR4 and by far the fastest cleanest one I have ever owned or ridden in. (I admit there are much nicer ones out there though).

DIY paint job pics

The list goes on… BMW e30, e34.. FX16 gts, turbo Volvo…. You name it, I have been dumb enough to modify it. Why not chalk up another on the list with a MR2+Honda…. I was going to call it MR CBR… what do you guys think?

I like Lord Nikon's focus on weight. Because the Mk I's are just TANKS!

I've got my 4agze down to around 2400, or 2450. And when I add a 200 lb. passenger, the cars slows down drastically. Buttloads even.
