Question Mk1.5 axles

Okay. Ive been looking around, researching, the mk1.5. I heard the st165 axles should pretty much bolt on to the rev2 3sgte, right? This is what confuses me. Some people say they are a no modification needed thing, while others say their too long. All this cv joint swapping with this axle and this other thing is really confusing me. Can anyone dumb it down for me. Oh, im new to this engine stuff so.... Whats a cv joint, whats an outter axles and an output shaft. What do they look like. I have the celica st165 axles with me.

Chico race works, A board vendor here sells drop in MK1.5 axles, theyre not cheap but nothing about a 1.5 is, if your looking to just get axles and bolt up this is probably best.

As far as reading and researching, it seems that the ST165 and ST185 as well as the 88-91 Camry V6 axles are to long for the MR2, Best bet would be to find some SW20 turbo axles and get a axle shop to put the 88-91 Camry outer CV's on them then its all plug and play. Of course the outer CV on the ST165 axles are probably the same as the Camrys so you may be one step ahead.

The st165 axles should work. You need to get a turbo intermediate shaft for the short st165 axle to work on the passenger side of your 1.5.
They should not be too long. The v6 camry axles and the st165 axles should fit. Many people have used them succesfully

And many people have also had problems with them being too long. They are 25mm longer than the turbo/SC axles which for some cars seem to not fit without binding. You have to remember the position of the engine in the bay has a lot to do with it as each swap will be different.
