Smoke problem.

Ok so I got a mr2 the other day. ( 1987 )
It smokes after i drive it for 2-3 blocks.
Oil also shows up in the tailpipe , and this is alot of smoke.
But any vechiles ive ever had with cracked rings smoked from the instant i started them so I hope thats not it.
This mr2 also hasnt been on the road sense 2002.
Also , do the pistins drop from the top or bottom on mr2's?
Any ideas what the problem is? cracked rings or bad valve seals?
