Subaru motor swap

Ok, I've read the other swap info and searched with no results for such a thing, so now I'm asking: Has anybody done any kind of 4-cylinder Subaru swap on a MKI?

I don't know exactly how dimensions would work out on it, but a WRX or STi motor coupled to a FWD Impreza tranny seems to me like a viable fit. Unfortunately I have neither a MKI nor the drivetrain to measure for this concept.

Why do a boxer motor? Well, why not?!? I suppose that I just don't like the other options I've seen done.

Well I can't find any other information about doing a Subaru drivetrain, but I think I've resolved not to do it for the primary reason that I have doubts about the fortitude of the FWD transmission. I'm also seeing more promise in the V6 idea than I had originally thought.

Now all I need is a car!

Edit... moved previous info to proper SW20 engine swap forum...

Just a note, though... I think even the FWD subaru boxer/transaxle setups are mostly longitudinal, at least ones since the 1990s... A boxer is wider than it is long, so longitudinal would be the way to go, but then the transaxle takes the same space as the rear trunk.

the engine sits in front of the transmission on the opposed cyl. block. from what i can tell the engine could not be forward enough to accomodate the transaxles at their current position in the 2. short ans. not happenin
