so if it seems like i didn't use the search button but im doing research before i buy....

so ive got a few questions

where should i start my search for a beams engine?(ive found one on rpm garage just trying to find more then just one option)
what are the most common issues?
are parts available in the u.s.?
are they reliable compared to the regular n/a motor?
ive found that theres a diffrence between the red top and grey top but i could never find anything as to what was the difference.
could i use the transmission from my 5sfe or a 3sgte or can you only use that transmission.

if your going to go on a search button rant please dont even post. im only looking for information about the beams motor not how to use the search button.

k thx

BEAMS Condenser

Hey EVERYBODY (Harry Caray -accent) !!!1!'

It's been a while since I last made a post.....
What's the deal about condensers on the BEAMS engine? Do we have any at all? Do we use any at all? Do need to have them at all?

I have one laying here around my garage and can't recall if it came from the 5S-FE engine days or if I should reinstall it somewhere?

You guys have any insights on these things & what to do with them? I suppose they are there to stabilize or clean up the electrical interference/fuzz or radio fuzz from high current spark/coil systems, am I correct about that?

28 bucks to find out that it does not fit the stock. it is maybe 1 mm less than the stock from the inside and does not fit my rubber hose snuggly. what a shame...

is that the way it fits with the aftermarket pipe from the solara, cuz it shoudl be same diamater

Water Pump part number is supposed to be... 16100-79225
Oil pump part number?? 15100-88460 or 15100-88560 or 15100-88561

On my way to order complete gasket kit so I'd like to buy everything to get my engine reassembled

I have been thinking a 3sgte, or the Red Top beams 3sge, doing swap with my dad.
Is there any wiring issues?
Engine mounts?
just stuff similar, that would be a pain to mess with.
I looked at the wiring diagrams and doesn't look like to much of a pain, but easier said then done right?
Just in tips and info would be appreciated. Thanks

Having B Pipe woes?

Ive been working feverishly to try and find a replacement B pipe since my shop lost my OEM one in their move. :undecided Most of the info will be most useful to US residents, where parts are hardest to come by for the BEAMS. Its relevant for both the Celica and MR2, as they both use the same flange, length of 2-1 section and angle. After the flex piece though its complete differently for the Celica and MR2.

Pipes to cross the list that are similar but dont work:
Fujitsubo Super EX for *_2nd gen 3SGE SW20 ver._* I had this imported with hopes I could use the B pipe and rear piece. Simply put flange is completely off and the pipes are too close in the V config, the BEAMS uses a wide V angle. (When I use V, I mean 2-1 section.) Inner Diameter is correct for the BEAMS pipe though, and the right length and angle to clear the oil pan. (If you have a gen 2 3SGE in your MR2, this will be for sale, not cheap though.)

Image: http://www.fujitsubo.co.jp/imglib/sngl/000000000000000345.jpg

On the US ebay there is an aftermarket header for the *_Celica 7AFE_* that uses a 4-2-1 setup as well. Ordered it and its the same story too narrow of an angle. Also the B pipe doesnt go low enough to clear the oil pan. If you have a 7AFE celica, Ill give the header and B pipe, just PM me, it didnt cost me much and the quality is okay. (But Im picky, not as much as Angelo but close.)

Image: http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk282/mingstah1234/celica9499.jpg

*_20V 4AGE_* uses a OEM 4-2-1 setup as well but again too narrow of an angle in the 2-1 section. Flange is off as well, I dont know if it will clear the oil pan as I didnt test this. Aaron makes a B pipe to fit the 20v in the AW11, I need to get him some specs and chat a little bit and possibly making one for the BEAMS in the SW20.

Image: http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/6/7/9/7/6/3/webimg/296113822_tp.jpg

Almost gave up the search and contemplated getting a custom one made, but not really any good fabricators around here. I really wish I knew how to weld as I could make this quite easily. Then I got a second wind and scoured the Toyota catalog to find a matching piece. When finally everything came together!!! And from a fellow family member too!!!

*_The MR-S or MR2 Spyder uses a 4-2-1 section as well on the 1ZZ_*! After some looking around on SpyderChat I found a local guy selling a OEM downpipe. After some chatting I picked it up today for $100 a little over priced but I just wanted it now. As you tell in the pics it will need some modification to fit but thats not a problem for me.

Image: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2640/4078705695_e807f2f702_o.jpg

*_After Modification_*:

Obviously the cat had to go as the angle is all wrong

Image: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2772/4079326638_96e899a860.jpg

*_
Issue!_* The flange is off SOB! :soapbox: but that doesn't stop me! It isnt that big of an issue, flanges are easy to make even for the folk around here. But the important part is that the angle is right and the inner diameter is the same. It also clears the oil pan!! :D

I would like to know, Celica GT4's or all-tracs are 4wd's right? so would a 3sgte tranny fit our BEAMS? also has anyone tried driving four-wheels with their BEAMS? I'm planning to have my corolla converted to 4wd using a celica's drivetrain, I really don't mind cutting or whatever needs to be done with the car, the reason why I wanna do this is with my future plans of boosting it, I feel FWD might not be the best setup for it specially during track days, you guys think this can be pulled off? anything I should lookout for?
