I hate to be doing this, but I pretty much don't have a choice.

As some of you may have seen in one of my posts, I was planning on prepping this car for serious track duty. Didn't get much farther than removing just about everything that could be removed with hand tools, short of the rolling stock and suspension. I no longer have use of a garage, and even if I did, my new fiancee and I are saving for a house, so no money to work on the car with. Right now it's parked in the side yard of my friend's place until I can figure something out, which at this point means selling it.

Ok so here goes:

It is an '86 model (May 1986 production) with factory Sport option, power windows (which work, along with an extra set of wiring and motors), 5 speed manual with original engine. The engine and car both have around 71k miles on it, carfax certified as such. Every part that I have taken off I have retained, except for the rear bumper (damaged during removal) and the rear visor (cracked in the sun, and broke in half during careful removal).

The car ran and drove just fine before I started taking it apart in early Sept. It has a newer fuel pump, spark plugs, and plug wires. I replaced all suspension bushings with Prothane. Brake pedal and booster have been disconnected, but e-brake still works.

The car is rust-free except for a small amount of surface rust in a dent on the passenger side fender, and where the roof meets the windshield. All wheel arches are 100% rust-free.

Paint is oxidized pretty badly on the hood, roof, and trunk, but the sides of the car are pretty good. The body and frame are straight, with remarkably few dings considering it's damn near 24 years old.

As it sits right now, it is a rolling parts bin, which can either be continued to be an excellent race car platform, or can be an excellent parts car, with all low-mileage parts. Not looking to part out the car at this time, looking to sell all at once.

Most recent pictures can be seen here: http://www.mr2.com/forums/mk-1-mr2-aw11/Toyota-MR2-45193-operation-bare-chassis-has-begun.html. I can also get some more up-to-date shots for the more interested parties.

EDIT: Forgot to mention: Free and clear AZ title.

Please PM me if interested.

Thanks!

I'm looking to sell either or both of my mr2's off. I'm located outside Philly. First is my 87. It's my daily driver I've been driving it for the past year and a half and it's a reliable car. I just replaced the alternator a few weeks ago. When I first bought the car the running lights didnt work so they are ran off a toggle switch. It passes inspection fine and works fine. T-top car and there is slight leak on the back of the passenger side at the door. The cold start injector doesnt work so the gas has to be held in and kept at 2000 rpms till it warms up. Heat works fine. Ac was removed. I just put some rota auto x rims on it they are used but great condition. The clutch was replaced a week after I got the car and only has about 8000 miles on it. Needs nothing to drive across country. I have the wing off it currently because I was contemplating whether or not to do the plumley mod on it. I didnt cut anything up. It's sitting nice without it for the time being. Holes are covered up with small pieces of tape. Greenish and tan exterior, tan interior. (I think someone said Sherwood?) Has 148,000 miles on it.

The other car is my 20v project that I put a lot of time and money in. It's got a 20v silvertop. The only thing keeping it running is the AFM I think. I'm 98% sure thats what it is. It will start up without the afm but wont rev past 3k rpms or so. The car is lowered and has adjustable struts. It's got a red exterior and black interior. Everything feels tight on this thing. I managed to drive it around the block but without the afm working I couldnt really test it. It has the poly enine mounts, mr220v wiring harness, extra ecu. The car is my baby and if it doesnt sell I wont be upset. I put a new clutch in when I did the swap. Did the plumley spoiler mod on this car but I havent fiberglassed the holes over. They are pointing down and I just havent gotten around to doing it. The body had some rust in the usual spots but it has all been patched over with metal. I'm not a body guy but it's not rusting anymore. I'm looking for 2000 for this one as well. I know I have more than that invested in this. I dont have any really recent pics of everything.
