Coilover Camber plates mounting :/

This is not something strictly to mr2's related, but it is universal...

Just to make things clear, I know how coilovers are mounted, but I have seen a couple a days ago this picture:

Image: http://i31.tinypic.com/316x2l5.jpg

for which I tought :omg: :slap:

but today I was browsing driftworks forum, and came across this pic in one build thread :

Image: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2694/4053158993_978ec83364.jpg

the guy that did that seems to know what he is doing, the whole build is good stuff, and from what I could see he drifts it good...

So the question that imposes on me is:

Bare in mind I understand basics of camber & caster angles, but does this way of mounting it bring any good? does that rly work? or is it just posh?

Shall we all start mounting it like that? :wtf:

Please share your piece of tought ;) :)

Hello All,

I just purchased a minty 1994 Mr2 Turbo from Japan with the Gen3 engine. I'm excited about the car, as i didn't expect it to be so fast out of the box. There is no mods on the car either, just ordered an Apexi Intake and looking for some wheels.

I've found some Work Emotion XD9 for a good price.
The size and offset is as follows:

17x8.5 et32 Front
17x9.5 et38 Back

The car will be on stock suspension, can anybody comment on the fitment?

Cutting Down Strut Inserts

Hello all,

I know this is going to sound crazy to most of you, but I'm hunting for some very used KYB AGX 765015 front strut cartridges. These are for the 91-95 MR2.

I want to cut them up for an experiment, and I just don't have the heart to butcher good ones. So if anyone has a used-up set lying around, I would really like to get my hands on them. I would of course be willing to pay shipping and something for your time. ;)

What I'm going to do with them is cut down the bodies and stems so the whole assembly ends up being approximately 1.5" shorter. I'll first machine the tops off the bodies, and disassemble them. Cut the bodies and the stems/shafts down 1.5" shorter. Then machine and tig weld on a new threaded socket and top so I can get them back together. I'll even put a flush schrader valve in the bottom so I can charge them back up. If what I'm trying to do works, then I'll go ahead and buy a new set to do the same thing to. I'm not after being able to make them re-buildable, just shorter. :)

If something like this turns out to be interesting to others, I would be happy to do a full writeup of my experience, with lots of pictures of course. ;)

Thanks again in advance, and sorry for such a really strange first post.

I've already searched the forum and I can't really find the information I'm looking for.

What coilover brand/set/etc. is going to be the best for a track car? I know many coilovers are adjustable, but spring rates themselves aren't. I'm looking for whatever coilovers are on the stiffer end of the spring rate spectrum for our cars.

I know EMSpowered has the KW coilovers, but from what I read they aren't the best for a track only car. Does anybody know the spring rates for Megan Racing, Cusco, Tein, Buddy Club, etc. coilovers?

Seized Transmission Linkage

Hey, whilst driving on the highway today, I tried shifting into first (gridlock, wanted to merge into next lane) and the transmission wouldn't slot in. After a little wrestling, I got it in second and then couldn't shift out of it (if I moved my shift lever into N or 1, I'd still get 2 and I couldn't move it to 3,4,5,R). I limped the car home and had a look at my linkage.

I recently replaced my shift bushings with steel ABEC bearings like another member did in the mr2 wiki. The bearing seems to be showing excessive play after a couple weeks and leads me to my question:

Is it possible that excess play in these bearings (bushings) would cause the cables to pull at too much of an angle and bind the tranny arms? I can move them smoothly by hand.

SW20 TRD springs dimensions

Hello everyone!

I would need a big favour from somebody who can help me out on this one.

Situation is that I need some new springs on my SW20. TRD's are the ones aim aiming for. The only problem is my geographical position in this world of ours, and my country's stupid laws about customs taxes :wtf: Because of that, the expenses of delivering those springs to my country + the taxes, would come out minimaly doubled, more likely tripled the price.

With that in mind I would like to attempt to fabricate completely new springs, for what I need dimensions of the TRD ones.

This is what I need:

Image: http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/6857/trdsprings2xs.jpg (http://img202.imageshack.us/i/trdsprings2xs.jpg/)

Only note I would like to make is that I would need the euro measure for the spring rates, if it is possible.

So can anyone tell me these dimensions, and accurate spring rates?

Thank you very much!

Best regards and greetings from Zagreb!
