So I found that ATS was the right answer.. *LONG POST*
before you read- this is a testomonial / brain teaser for those of you who like to troubleshoot
Well very few of you know thatmy car has been dow for about 2 weeks. After taking a hard banking turn I heard something that sounded like a loose sway bar or something similar hitting the under body of my car. Talked it over with a few guys from the board. Here were the symptoms: -made a loud knocking noise -only matched the RPM's intermitenly -bumps seemed to amplify it -turn real hard to the left it was worse-turn hard the other way, not nearly as bad -jumped up and down on the car literally, no sound from the suspension otr engine bay -could not replicate sound when the car was off -checked the underbody - no loose anything -going down the street in nuetral the noise would happen over bumps -no loss on power SO I took t to "Fastlane" a all in one mechanic shop right around the corner as ATS is roughly 40 mi from me and I was dreading the towing guy tells me its the shocks I think aww man $500 good bye so im in the middle of making arrangements to buy the parts *special thanks to Boobala-still may get those springs buddy* when I think let me just check with ATS for posterity. I talk to Aaron who gives me a great quote on the work and parts. I think to myself ok better get it out to ATS I go to the other guy to get the car and he's like- well itll be 40 since we had to look at it. We will put that twards your vehicle when you bring it back. I have it towed to ATS today- Matt looks at it literally 5 min later guess what he finds... Broken motor mount- he has it fixed & in no time again- literally it was in and out before I knew it But you know I had to leave it there- to have some things looked into ![]() Either way it just goes to show you that normal mechincs are FTL. MR2 specialists especially ATS are always FTW. Saved me TONS of money and time. Thanks guys |

Did you pay them the 40 for looking at it? I would of laughed in his face.

Shady f'n business. They probably knew the suspension was fine, just going to rip your ass off. Props to ATS for honesty. |

The $40 was probably a diagnostic charge that almost any shop would have charged. Whether paying for their wrong diagnosis is the question.

because it made a scratching sound when he went over bumps. So i take a look at it...loosen 2 bolts...tap spring with hammer....tighten 2 bolts...fixed...the spring just moved off its perch a bit. Cracked spring... ![]() Anyway i would ALWAYS recommend talking over your problem with a couple shops before paying a crapload....i hate shops that do that! |

I'm glad we could help.
A couple years ago a customer brought us a car (towed it from a Toyota specialty shop). Well, his 93 MR2 was OBD2 so the other shop's owner couldn't diagnose anything. Basically the car had a no spark condition. Turns out the owner had replaced the distributor o-ring and didn't seat the distributor back into the cam. It was easy to diagnose and repair. My charge to REPAIR it was less than the other shops mandatory diagnostic fee. Aaron |

Since when has a 93 MR2 been OBD2? Unless it is a v6 swap?

WOW....Fastlane!? hahahah...they suck.... my brother took his 06 Turbo Mustang Gt over there to get dyno tuned..... and they ****ed his **** all UP! His turbo was only rated for 600hp....and they took it up to about 650. The bearings in it failed and the the compressor fins broke to pieces. Fastlane FTL. :/ even after the turbo was replaced....his car has never run the same.
