Still no Luck... Sigh...

Ok, well I had MR2Guru fix my timing belt issue. it was indeed 1 tooth of on both exhaust and intake sides. We fixed that, and reset my timing back to stock.

Car seemed a bit smoother at first, but then I realized on my long drive home, that I have a few problems.

1.) I cannot punch it. Period. If I go from 0 throttle to 100%, it almost dies.. bogs down very badly. I have to let off completely and then accelerate by slowly pushing down on the throttle. (I realize its not a good idea to go WOT in my position, but I was only doing it for test purposes to see what problems I had)

2.) When I get above 4-5000 rpms, It still holds itself back. Doesnt pull at all. Feels like something wont let it accelerate. (Again, I realize I shoudl not be doing this, but Im just trying to test for problms)

3.) I still have uncontrollable boost. I am vacumm'ing perfect... 15 at idle and 25 while driving. I have capped all appropriate lines, gutted my TVIS, blocked off my EGR. I have a Blitz DSBC Spec R EBC, but the directions were in japanese and I couldnt read them, so I havent set it up yet. When I accelerate, it climbs to 10psi very quickly, and then every 100-200rpm's I climb, I get another 1-2psi of boost, capping off around 17-18 and not really pulling any harder, which brings me back to problem #2.... cant climb past 5k or so.

Any Idea's guys? Is this just lack of tuning??

Hrm,... injectors are brand new, fuel filter is brand new, fuel pump is brand new (but the shop that installed it could have messed it up), fuel pressure regulator is brand new, installed correctly and set to 36psi, and I dont have an AFM anymore because I run the Nemesis.

Its funny you say its my fuel, because I have replaced every single fuel component on my car in the last 2 weeks to upgrade for the nemesis.

It still sounds like tuning to me. Too much fuel will also not run correctly. Quite honestly, defending yourself by saying "I hung a bunch of new, unproven parts on a car is not a good arguement.

Put another new set of plugs in and try a known good set of OEM plug wires. (I personally think NGK wires suck) Try the new plugs, as you might have destroyed the set of plugs you put in due to the initial bad tune.

In any case, you need to stop driving the car, do some research and learn how ignition timing/fuel mixtures are necessary to have an engine run correctly. Simply hanging new parts on a car or turning knobs without understanding "why" is a good way to empty your bank account and have a broken car. Stop trying to do high boost runs on an untuned engine! You will end up with buying a set of pistons, valves or worse if you keep it up.

Have 2-3 sets of plugs handy for when you take your car to Bryan for tuning. You may not need them, but they are good to have handy.

I didnt put anything on my car that others havent tried and tested first. But I get the point.

Using Toyota Plug wires (red ones) and NGK 6097 plugs that are less than 1000 miles old. Just checked them yesterday before I left home and they are fine... slightly grey,.. suggesting im running a little lean.

Already got them... 4 sets actually. =)

Thanks for the info.

I hate to be so harsh with it, but I have learned that engines tend to teach lessons in a very rude and expensive manner.

It's been a while, but my gut tells me that your fuel pressure is a bit low. I generally unhook the vacuum line and dial the fuel pressure to 40-42psi. At what fuel pressure was the Nemisis tuned?

The harshness is probably well warrented. I dont like to pretend I know everything,.. that is why I come here for help... but I feel I need to explain myself and sometimes that can be annoying.

I just hope its somethign I can get fixed and get my car to where it should be.

The pressure was set at 36psi and left there by MR2Guru. The nemesis has not been tuned yet. Im tyring to get to "No Shoes" this weekend to fix that.

I'll be happy to address all the problems you have when you get here. We'll be doing the red bull thing and probably not sleeping Friday night to get all the stuff addressed. I'm working on dyno access for Saturday.

I just finished 3 16 hour work days of mechanical work, including removing his cylinder head because of a broken exhaust stud, removing the biggest piece of shit intake manifold I have seen made since the Trueleo days, rerouting all sorts of crap that was laying on top of his coolant filler neck, and all sorts of other cleanup work.

ONE hour of that 48 hours was spent tuning. Mike didn't even know what to say to describe what it is like to actually have a car that starts well, drives smooth, and is nice and quiet (meaning no looney tune exhaust leak blackening his engine bay), and that pulls to redline at 13psi.

There's MUCH more to come once I get these pictures uploaded. I haven't been this pissed at a business for absolute worthless work at $85 a ****ing hour, in YEARS! I don't understand how a business can charge money to completely rape a man's car.

The shop appears to be clearly stated. I'd like to see no more than one response by them, everything thereafter should be taken off the board.

PM Nocturnal. He's in full agreement with me in that this information should be brought to the community. We don't need hack shops taking our community member's money. We had a LONG conversation about the work performed.

Here's an example:

The shop in question drilled holes in Mike's intake manifold while the intake manifold was on the car, right in front of Mike, and proceeded to state that the motor would be just fine!

I have pictures of the tops of the pistons and the combustion chamber to prove otherwise.

Expect pictures on Tuesday after I sleep and recover from this weekend.

I am in full agreement with this being posted so long as theu has evidence to substantiate their claims, which I'm confident they do. The community has a right to know fully about any individual or shop, be it good, bad, or indifferent. The shop in question will likewise have the opportunity to defend their work. All I ask is that all parties remain civil, otherwise the floor shall remain open.

I feel different about this now that its in the feed back forum. This is the type of thread that belongs in here- not the General MKII forum.
