S.P.E.C. Clutch review

I can't seem to post in the product review section, keep getting weird errors. Mods, please move this post if this is not an appropriate place to post my review/feedback on Spec clutch.

I couldn’t decide on a title for this post so I just went with something generic. Here are the ideas I was batting around:
Spec’ing the Spec
Spec’edy Spec, Spec, Spec
The saga of the Spec.

Since this is the internet, I’ll start with a summary and pictures.
In summary:
I purchased a Spec clutch directly from their website for my MR2. I chose a Spec clutch because I had an excellent experience with a Spec clutch on my Nissan. However, I was not happy with how the Spec clutch fit my MR2 and decided to return it.

-3 of 3 parts tested did not fit correctly.
-2 of the 3 did not fit at all, 1 of the 3 parts was incorrect and the one that did fit had VERY sloppy tolerances. I did not test the throwout bearing and there was 1 unused part sent with clutch kit.

Product = Not to “Spec”

-“A smidge” is not a helpful measurement. And telling me to take a drill and make the product fit?!

Technical support = Not to “Spec”

-2 of 10 emails returned.
-1 out of 4 voicemail’s returned.
-Of the 6 times I actually got a hold of them I experienced 2 computer system failures and one excessively long “please hold.”
-“You will have it by the end of the week” actually means you might see it next week.
-Nobody I’ve talked to knows what their return policy is.
-A “full” refund for a defective product only covers 85% of my costs.
-And trying to blame me for “just not being happy” with a product that does not fit and a kit that contains the wrong parts!?

Customer service = Not to “Spec”

Spec Clutch for my MR2 = Out of Spec.

As received

Alignment tool “fit”

Good information, entertaining read! Too bad about the experience though. They'll probably sell that kit to another unsuspecting MR2 owner.
