jspec 4agze

Just wondering if they ever made a 4agze without the O2 sensor. I have the gze version that has no egr system, no port, no wires. I think it might be the same for the o2 but I am not sure. I havent found the wire for the o2 sensor yet.

You kinda gotta have the O2 sensor. It's what the engine uses to meter fuel in closed loop mode. If you get rid of it you'll have problems running when not at WOT, and it may not even run. My '86 just sputters and dies if not at idle or WOT with the sensor disconnected. Depending on the year of j-spec GZE, they moved the O2 sensor onto the B-pipe after the manifold, hence no place to mount the sensor. It's gotta be installed somewhere though.

yes, I have it somewhere. Do you know the location of the wire comming from the harness? Maybe when I installed the harness I buried the wire by accident. Does it come down from the distributor area or is it under the intake manifold??

I appreciate it.

My car surprisingly runs but it idles erradically; Weird throttle too.

HEY RED,

FROM PAGE 4-1 OF THE 89MR2 ELECT DIAGRAM BOOK THE OXYGEN SENSOR HAS THE FOLLOWING WIRES:

FROM HARNESS-
BR-SOLID BROWN COLORED WIRE
B-R-BLACK WITH RED STRIPE WIRE

FROM COMPUTER
B-SOLID BLACK WIRE
B-W-BLACK W WHITE STRIPE WIRE

LOOK IN THE AREA OF THE STARTER FOR THE WIRE IF THE 02 HOLE IS ON THE LOWER EXHAUST. (MINE WAS 89)

IF YOUR O2 HOLE IS FURTHER UP ON THE EXHAUST BY THE HEADER LOOK AT THE REAR OF THE ENGINE.

PS SECURE THE WIRE AT INSTALL, IT WILL EAT RUBBER AXLE JOINT COVERS
