I believe you will want to blow air out to releave the heat from the whole engine bay. It just makes more sense that way
![]() If you suck fresh air in,it still traps the heat in the engine bay. |

Hey jackstand,
My experience was building a fiberglass reinforced engine lid made out of 1/8 inch wood wall paneling 4 inches high with 3 radiator fans sucking air out of the engine cover.
My theory on this is that as the air rushes over the top of the car a vacuum is created behind the rear back glass/engine cover area causing air to move upwards.. I decided on my design because I didn't think one fan would move enough air whereas 3 fans sucked all parts of the engine compartment not just the one over (under in ya'lls case) the I.C. Later I designed a huge scoop that blew air down onto the I.C. (and which allowed me to fill it with ice before the race). Unfortunately at 140mph the scoop was too large and disappeared one night racing flat out on the Florida Turnpike. |

Man, you is Crazy. But a good kind of Crazy.
You remind me of my passing ettiquette on the long straight 2 lane highways in Nevada. People constantly are passing badly and forcing oncoming non-passing traffic to go onto the shoulder to avoid a head on. I force the bad passers to go onto the shoulder of the road to my right. Its so fun to see the look on their faces as they avoid a head on. I'm still wavering on a Spal fan pushing up out of the engine bay, or going Water 2 Air IC. Where I live, there's only a week or so a year that temperatures hit near 100 F. So that's a factor too. |
