What? 5sfe blocks have been used in 700+rwhp cars. People have made amost 300rwhp on completely stock bottom ends. If you blow one up it is because you didn't have adequate fuel control. |

I've been considering it for a MKII, the problems I see are: the funky triangle shaped turbine inlets which would require a custom manifold or adapter to still retain the twin scroll advantage, it's turbine housing is offset from the flange farther than a CT26 so I'm not sure how well it will fit in the engine bay and the compressor is on the opposite side from the CT26 so intake and intercooler piping will be a little different. Have you seen the block? It's a closed deck cast iron block... Where are you getting your information from? Check to see if your celica board has a member named "Pressure" or "Pressure2" and ask him about how weak the motors are. |

Wow. All of this information was from toyotacelicas.com.
here are a couple of quotes from that site just by using a quick search. "The problem is that the stock ecu has no provisions for a knocksensor, and the motor will knock itself to pieces unless you back the timing WAY off via an MSD BTM or something similar, and you'd have to do that to the point that you'd be losing a butt ton of power." "You have a rev1 motor. It'll blow up. Don't boost it. Use punctuation. " Do the 5th gen Celicas and the 2nd gen MR2s use the same variant of the 5s? I would assume so... Sorry for the wrong information. I will keep my trap shut next time. ![]() Oh yeah... I KNOW that I saw on the board someplace that they were criticizing how weak the 5s block was. I will have to look for that. |
