yes.

there's no trouble in turbocharging the stock 22R.
like anything else, don't get overzealous.

if you are going to throw that much boost at this engine, hope you plan on have GREAT intercooling and some extra fuel control.

the only thing i would be worried about would be the clutch...obviously would need a strong one lol. i need to figure out where i could mount the intercooler. there isn't whole hell of alot of room. i suppose i could mount it low like most speed racers do. dont really think that this would hurt much at all because i am wanting to get the body back to stock...well kind of. i think some fiberglass fenders and bedsides would be nice to have, but yeah, i dont do that much off-roading so i dont think that i would be able to rip off the intercooler that easily. 9:1 compression wont be "overkill" would it?

LC engineering makes a turbo kit for the 22RE. (LC kicks ass! When it comes to 22RE parts) I've seen people sqweez IC behind the front grill. I think behind the skid plate might be a good place...

LC's Turbo Kit

I have .20 over pistons, over sized valves, springs, a torquie cam, LC's header and a K&N drop in on my 4x4 22RE. Its not fast, but its fun...

Just an FYI the 7MGE (N/A Supra motor) will bolt up to the M/T W56 bell housing (7MGTE needs a custom one made)
