With the CT20B replacing the CT26 (which I understand is oil and also water cooled) - is the CT20B too?

More differences
I will be adding to this list here as I go through my gen 3 setup. I also have a few questions while I'm at it - Like is the clutch better in a gen3?
I think the exhaust manifold is slightly different as well - at least it looks a little bigger from the casting design...I will verify. New exhaust heat shields - better design totally different turbo oiling locations - much better especially if upgrading later. Different heater and thermostat housings There is a factory Exhaust gas temp thermocouple behind the cat. Note this is NOT an 02 sensor, but an actual 2 wire temp probe. I think this is why this fitting is in the Megan Racing downpipe - same one I use. I wondered what that was for! Intake manifold looks like a lot better design...there is a larger plenum, and 4 large runners - b-bye TVIS. Of course all oiling / cooling passages look a lot better. WAY bigger water feed to / from oil cooler. Nicer HFH as well - none of that is the same. Check back for updates. Thanks, Patrick |

The exhaust temp sensor is unnecessary. So If an after market downpipe doesn't have a bung to put it in, you can simply disconnect the sensor and put a 2.2kom resistor in the harness. |

I don't think the CT20B is water cooled...

Did some reading, guess I was wrong... Weird... I always thought they were just oil cooled, that's primarily why I bought my TT.

What's even more weird is that the 20G (td06) I bought for my MR2 is only oil cooled, but the smaller 18G (td05) that bought for my WRX was both oil and water cooled. Why is it that the larger turbo doesn't get the extra cooling capabilities?

Then how are we to add to the "Gen 3 differences" list then?
Yes the CT20b IS watercooled, just like the ct26. I looked at it last night on my gen3 motor. Patrick |

MHI makes lots of turbos. One of which being the td06...there are many variants, including both oil only and wet CHRA's.
