just completed my gen3 swap and i have no spark or 12v at the coil?

i just finished my swap from a 91 turbo to a JDM 94+ gen 3 engine.
everything looks good except i have no power(12v) at the coil.
i'm getting 5volts across the black-red and black on the igniter

However i am getting 12v at the Ignition relay black-orange
i also get 12v on the black-orange when the ignition is in the on position.

any help?

My engine came with the ignitor, but did not come with the fuel injector resistor. The plugs were different between 2nd gen and 3rd, but the funtion inputs and outputs were the same - so I just found the appropriate wires and wired it in with the 2nd gen plugs. This may be the case with the ignitor as well if you don't have the 3rd gen ignitor!? I suspect it has something to do with that as well.

Yeah they are the same, which also happens to be the same as the ones used on the pre 98 (non VVTi) 1UZ-FE V8 engines....

Actually, if you rewire the plug, you can use just about any toyota ignitor. Most all toyota ignitors used in the mid 80's through the mid 95's have the same 5 basic connectoin and operate the same. Those 5 connections are +12v, coil negitive, IGt, IGf and Tach....

As long as you wire those 5 signals correctly, most of them will work.... Actually, you only need 4 of them. You dont need the Tach lead unless you have a tach...
