Ok this is some info for those of you who can not get that metal line out. A guy on MR2OC told me it and it saved me alottt of time as mine was not going to come off.

Just look further down the line and disconnect it from the fuel filter and feet it through.

My Fuel pump swap took me about 10 hours. Honestly, i found it easy, but i bought a big ass jack for it, so i can get the car up high.

The reason it took me 10 hours was just, me taking my sweet time. The hardest part was removing the heatshields. I still have not installed the heatshields or undercarraige panels.

Just take your time and you will be fine.

Grrr.

The new throwout bearing that came with my Spec clutch is already chattering / screeching after less than 100 miles. What a piece of ****!

Did you break it in first, becasue if you read the directions it says you have to take it easy on the clutch for about 500 miles no sudden launches just regular driving.

I'm sorry but there is no way yo can do it in a couple of hours. I have to dissagree, disconecting all the lines and bringing the tank down includidng disconnectinf all the stuff inside the car is about a couple of hours.

I don't think he meant 2 hours literally. I think this is easily a 3-4 hour job though (given you have a helper to help you raise the tank back into position).

I just dont want people to think that is a simple job, because it's not. Not to mention the fact that you have to be very carfull that you dont start a fire. It's a mod that needs to be done with caution and with time. If you dont make sure that everything is put back correctly you can be stuck some where with a big ball of fire as you watch your car burn. This mod is not about how fast you can do it in, but about making sure it's done right more than anything else including checking for gas leaks. Double check, Triple check if you have to. So I'm just saying dont worry about the amount of time it takes you to do it in but worry more about the quality of the job no matter how long it may take you. It took me 12 hours to do it in but I spread it out in a period of three days.

Dude...with a lift, a good tool set and a helper, this job can be done in two hours by a competent mechanic, and done right. That said, most of us don't have a lift. It is a royal bitch, and social Darwinism will take car of anyone else who wants to half ass it.

Edit...this is of course assuming that you don't run into stuck/stripped fasteners...spend time looking for tools, take potty breaks, etc. 3-4 hours is probably more realistic as an average.

I've been very easy on the clutch. But the break-in period is for the clutch surfaces, not the TO bearing. The bearing has no role in how hard you launch the car. Now I have to drop my tranny again to replace a bull**** $40 part.

Let this be a warning to everone. The TO bearings that come with the Spec clutches are pure ****. I heard that rumor floating around and chose to ignore it.

Do yourself a favor and buy an OEM bearing.

Just take your time on it . It's a mod that needs to be done to perfection. You will see it's not as easy as everybody thinks.

I agree with Tyler, it can be easily done in 2 hours with a lift.

But take your sweet time, thats what I did, i forgot to connect one hose, and of course did not start the car, but jumped the pins, and seen fuel pouring out, then i fixed that, trippled checked everything and was on my way.

Update:

I've been out of town for the last two weeks or so...

I've been fighting little nuisances that keep popping up....Axle nuts getting loose, dealing with a ****ty exhaust (thanks Pontiac5oh,) Spec throw-out bearing squeaking, lost an AC idler pulley, etc.

I'm happy to report at this instant, everything is 100%. That could change in 5 min, though.

I broke out the ol' torque wrench and went back over just about every fastener on the car, using loc-tite on some of them.

Swapped cars can apparently be rattletraps.

Hopefully, these are just break-in pains and won't define my ongoing driving experience. I've got about 250 miles on the swap now. The power is nice and I'm satisfied, but left wondering in a V6 swap wouldn't have been just as good / cheaper....I'll let you know after I get an MBC.

Ya, please post that here if you could please. I didn't have his number handy, and I'd also like to add it to the FAQ.
