Blown headgasket.... =(

yep... got a blown headgasket.... sucks badly..... hitchin rides off a friend that drives a civic

.... but i got the headgasket already... just gotta find time to do it.... anyone know if its a pain in the butt to get done or what?

You need to consider timing belt, oil pump, water pump, etc also while your in there. Its basically tearing the motor down....you'll be amazed how small the actual block is compared to all the crap bolted on.

You might want to consider dropping the motor. Doing it on a stand will take you a fraction of the time it will take you in the car.

yeah been informed of all that.... hoping to not screw the car up worse

... but just to get it running will make me happy

unless your are just completely careless....its really hard to mess stuff up..it only goes one way. As long as you don't mess with the cams/gears etc...the timing will be fine.

Make sure that you take your time and have a plan when you dig into it. Label any wiring harness tails you take off as that will save you time when you reassemble. Same with coolant lines etc.

Another trick that you may or may not be aware of is baggy all bolts you take off the engine and label the bag with where they came from. Taking these steps will save you loads and loads of time.

Have a bag of zip ties handy. They are invaluable for keeping **** that you can't just remove from the car out of your way. If you want to make damn sure that you don't turn the cams when you take the timing belt off zip tie the cam gear to something.

Replace your head bolts while you're in there, or you will be putting in a new headgasket soon. They are torque to yeild bolts so make sure you run a bottoming tap down all the bolt holes and lube them with engine oil before tightening. Don't forget the washers either.
