Valve Seals

I am buying a 1987 MR2 soon, and would like to know how hard it is going to be to replace the valve seals. I have basic tools and moderate mechanical experience. The valve seals need replacing because the car burns oil when driven hard and when first started.

I'm not sure if you can do it without taking the head off. with the head off it isn't too hard, provided you have a valve spring compressor to reinstall the valves. some parts stores allow you to rent/borrow tools, so you might be able to find a spring compressor.

I have a su****ion that there is a way to do it without removing the head, but I have no idea how.
