tranny problem

ok so when the transmission is engaged there is a whining sound when i give it gas. how do you check the tranny fluid?

also my car has problems starting sometimes.....the plugs are getting soaked in oil when it sits for a lil and its kinda rough when it starts then cleans up. im thinking its my valve stem seals but what do you guys think? it started when i changed over to full synthetic and my oil pressure is low at idle now.

with the car level remove the plug on the front side of the tranny (IIRC 24mm) and check that the fluid is flush with the opening if it isn't add till it starts to flow out. btw if you have not changed it in a while you should go ahead and do that. as for the oil problem it sounds like your on the right track.

If you are burning oil then there is not point changing to synthetic oil unless you like burning you money. there are stop smoke additives that can help or you could use a thicker oil or just do a full VRS kit if you want to be safe.

well im not burning oil but just leaking it from my valve stem seals. oh and my transmission blew today. it wouldn't let me shift into second and then started making really loud noise. when i got out and looked i saw that the bottom end of the tranny was cracked and oil was going every where.

what all cars can i get a transmission out of? camry?
