If you have a filter with an "anti drain back valve" it should be okay. I have seen it done on quite a few cars. Have a look at the link.

How does that not get really messy when you change oil?

Yea, Id rather have it facing down. It seems to go all over my engine block when I loosen it anyway. Plus I want to hook up an oil cooler also. Good idea!

I was having a good look around yesterday when i dropped my oil as i would like to put in an oil cooler too but in an MR2 it seems like there is almost no point as i cant find a place that will give me cool air without running really long lines.

the oil relocator i have has two long lines im going to convert those into two elbow fittings and have it drop off down to the filter. making it easier and cleaner when doing my oil changes. this is how i have it visioned in my head.

Why is everyone going on about it being messy when changing the oil? I didnt spill a drop and i was rushing it. I do have a nice sized oil drain pan so this does help but it cost me all of $8.00 so that should be a little cheaper than a relocation kit.

the answer is very simple its because you live in Australia like how our toilets flush differently in this case its working against us. Across the pond the earths rotation is making our oil changes messy! and yours nice & tidy.

where to start.... Ur sposed to change oil when motor is warm, so generally the exhaust is still a bit warm (burnt hands etc, gloves r ghey) its a bitch to get to if it's a bit tight, u have to get the car reasonably high (i use ramps, harder than it sounds with a dying clutch to be precise with getting her up) yeah bollocks to it a relocation kit is win :P
