tinks in my motor?!?

its weird. i have these tinks that are quiet, but present.
i was thinking timing, but my timing belt appears new and is tight, the marks line up.
it doesnt have anything to do with the rpm level, only the amount of throttle preasure in any gear.
any ideas as to what else i should check?
maybe the erg valve or injectors or something?

record it if possible.

have you checked for exhaust leaks? start from the manifold and work your way back

It could be your valve hitting the seats, if so just get a shop to adjust your valves. Also find a shop or buy a borescope to check if something is inside your combustion chamber.

i do have a small hole in my muffler right now, i doubt that could be the cause of the ticking... didnt see anything else wrong with any of the exhaust... i ran some injector cleaner through it with my last fill up, seems to have gotten quiter.

i have noticed that a lot of 4 bangers tick. as long as its not horrible sounding i think your fine. my mr2 ticks and so does my friends focus....and its almost new. im not too worried about mine but if you find out whats causing yours...let me know.

i would guess a valve too.

Cheap gas... my f-150 did the same thing.... it causes valve 'rattle' or so I was told by my mechanic friend.

That's one way to put it. Usually what you get from bad gas is early detonation.
