Angry 88' MK1 4age Alternator replacement

I'm trying to replace my alternator....I have the old one off....but the trick now is to get it out......does it come out from the top or bottom??

Seems like removing the coolant tank might help...Any ideas??

Thanks!

I took the coolant overflow out and removed it from the top but it's tight.

It really helps to take off the top alternator bracket, the adjuster piece; then you can take it off from the top.

That, or you can also disconnect the electrical wiring to the trunk, pull it out, and then pull out the alternator from the top.

I don't think you can really pull it off from the bottom, =/.

You just pull the coolant tank out. You just pull it up.
Be sure to hold it from the bottom.

Be glad you don't own a DA1 integra, I changed an alternator on on of those and I had to manouver the alternator to the other side of the engine bay and then "flick" it on top of the gearbox with my fingertips. Can do the same on a 2 only it comes out the bottom on the gearbox side next to the cv. Out the top is better though.

Be extra sure to tighten the bottom alternator bolt and not to over-tighten the adjuster bolt like me on my alternator.

I shaved the top bolt clean by adjusting too tight .. and have lost 2 bottom alternator bolts because I didn't tighten it well enough.

Good Luck !!
