Aw11 does not stay on.

my throw out bearing is done..
but will that cause my car not to stay on??
the car does start but wont stay on unless you keep the RPM at 1800
if you let off the gas it dies...
other than that the engine sounds great...
what could be the cause of it turning off??

Is this only on start up or is it all the time? My car does that on start up due to a messed up cold start valve. When I start it I run it up to about 2k rpms then hold it there for about 2-3 minutes then I take off. When I make it to the streets I'm fine and it idles like it should.

There isn't one, there is a cold start injector and a cold start time switch which is mounted on the thermostat housing.

all right so i checked all my stuff..
Pick up Coil..
Spark PLugs...
THrottle Body Sensor
MAF...
and its all good..
so i strted up the car had my friend
spray carb cleaner into the throttle body and the car was staying on..
so i know either the Fuel Pump or Fuel Filter might not work or be clogged...
but i want to know if its just the filter because the pump as many of you know is located on top of the Gas tank..
and i dont want to do all that work and find out that the pump was working..
so is there any other way to check the fuel system???

replace the fuel filter. u can have pressure, but no volume.also check the throttle assembly. there is a bypass tube that enables the engine to run on a closed throttle. there is a idle adj screw also, turn counterclockwise to raise the idle. if it were me, on the fuel tank, i would check for an acess plate on the center console, or make one. there is also a VSV that affects the idle

There is no access plate to the fuel pump and you really can't make one because it has hard lines that run all the way to the back of the tank.
Why don't you do a fuel pressure test? If you haven't changed the fuel filter in a long time you might aswell change it anyway , it's cheap.

acess plate

BET ME!! my mk1 is dead rite now. the metal on these cars is very thin. i can and will track down the location and take my tin snips to the area. 1st, i will cut in parallel to the fuel lines/electrical, and then pull it away from the lines. on my rustbucket, you wont get the tank out w/o broken bolts everywhere. i would then make a patch panel and use sheetmetal screws to secure it. most japanese cars ive worked on have an acess plate above the tank for the fuel pump. if someone wants me to do this, and take pics, just ask. parting my car out rite now. the 4ages will work off a ford framerail pump used on the late 80s early 90s full-size trucks and vans, ive done it.

If it's a parts car and you have no intention of putting it back together then YES you can cut it out but if you plan on putting it back together then NO it can't (or shouldn't) be cut out.

If to you this sounds like a challenge then go ahead and prove me wrong

okay so i checked if it was my fuel pump..

a friend of mine told me to connect the battery connect the AMF
the turn key to on.. but dont start the engine...
and if you keep hearing a sound through the gas lines then it is good...
i did it and my fuel pump is A OKAY!!
but i know for a fact my AMF is messed up so i used something to keep it open at all times.. now i have a different problem :/

Do you have an idle control valve? My buddies 328iS had the same problem and it was just a busted idle control valve. BMW's are a little different than MKI MR2's so it's just a thought...

oh okay...glad you got it figured out. On the bimmer's if the idle control valve breaks the car won't idle at all...it just dies unless you're on the gas...sounded similar
