Question!!
Ok so theres this part i dont know what its called on the mkI..
but its attached to the radiator hose going to the block from the filler cap!.. i got both of these of an 85 and yet they are different in the neck angle! this was causing my filler pipe to break because of the stress it was causing on it and how hot the car was getting.. Question is why are they different if its the same year! and same month production. ![]() ![]() neck angles! |

Maybe it was a recall and one got replaced and the other didn't?

I've heard that lots of cars have small changes to them partway through the year, lots of times it's little changes to trim. That could be what happened there, and maybe they just decided they wanted to change it. They might have also had a different bend in the rad hose to go with it though.

The hose piece from the filler cap down to the water pump on the block is notorious for having leaks.
These leaks may be aggravated by worn transmission and motor mounts. Even brand new with zero mileage, these 4age's move forwards and backwards inside the engine bay. With worn mounts they positively Rock! |
