maybe the switch is broken? Or an issue with, the wiring, or the relay, or something mechanically wrong like it's snagging.
If it's snagging then i'd be concerned because you could burn out the motors, then again i'm pretty sure they work independently so it's doubtful that they would both snag... Are they stuck on as well? Remember that if you get out of the car once you shut the engine off they automatically shut off when you open the door (at least in my 86) so you might have to quickly turn the key to the on position and look. |

usually it's odd for both relays to go out so it sounds more like the switch. check the contacts on the switch.

They won't close when you open the door. Only the lights shut off. Maybe my car is different though?

![]() But ya, i think it's a winter feature so that you can leave em up and they won't freeze down and burn out the motors. Although i flipped em up and down all winter, even at super cold temps ![]() |

Just curious, can that happen to the ignition switch? Cause every once and a while, usually only when it's cold i have my starter motor stick on. It's kind of embarrassing because i have to switch the engine off and on until the starter will stop, and i keep thinking that everybody must think my car is a total piece of sh1t.
I kinda just thought it was the selanoid (is that what it's called) sticking in the on position and just never got around to buying a new one |
