for a 1988 mr2 non super charged, do you have to drop the engine to replace the clutch?

No you dont have to drop the engine. You will have to take out 3 of the 4 mounts though. Search around.

First, buy the Haynes manual for MR2s. This helped me bigtime. You will have to tilt the tranny down by removing the Left, Front, and Rear Engine mounts.

But be careful not to damage the bottom pulley from touching the right engine wall, put some support (another jackstand or floorjack underneath the engine/transmission).

You'll have to detach both L & R rear axels.
