full size spare?
Okay, so I'm leaving the 19th to pick up my first mr2 and drive it cross country back home
![]() Lots of questions going through my mind, though. The things got studded winter tires on it just now- I'm thinking I'll order up four new rims and have summer tires mounted/balanced and shipped to the car- and then ship the winter tires back here. Will the mark 1 fit one of the winter tires in as a full size spare? |

as long as almost nothing else is in the frunk then yes. keep in mind that is on a normal 14 inch rim, anything larger and no not likely to fit.

I was able to fit 3 stock wheels in side the car when I picked up my 16's.

If you don't have a passenger to ride with you, then you've got a seat filler for the trip if it won't fit the trunk.

It wont fit in the trunk, 1 in the frunk, and 2 in the passenger seat (maybe 3?)

Yes...
One full will fit in the front of the car, but none in the trunk. Like everyone says, you can't put much else in there, but I just keep my full spare in the front. Now that you mention it, I need to get a new rim, mine got messed up so I need to check that. You should be fine with four tires and a full spare. I keep the 14 in there, but if they can get a 15 that's cool too.

Hey Mr. Como, (first name perry?)
Anyway, since your new to the Mid-engined Reardrive 2 group(?) I think it important to point out a RWD item. Since your car has the transmission in the rear it is somewhat important that you remember at all times that the rear tires must be matched in size. Sure, you can put on any sized tire during a rear tire failure and drive under 45 mph to the nearest facility to help you out. But remember your mis-matched rear tire size will stress the differential in a way that will accelerate wear, will produce extra heat in the transmission case and produce possible premature differential failure.(Spider gears and differential bearing failure) All mr2 owners should keep this in mind during x-country adventure emergencies? Personally I always carry a full sized spare in the front trunk that matches my rear tire sizes which I can always use in the front for flat tire emergencies since the front tires do not have this complication. Happy Motoring Ya'll... |

Thanks for the help everyone.
spare will be a winter tire that I'm too cheap to ship (will ship the other 3...) on a stock mk1 rim. it would only be used to get to the nearest place that could fix/replace the flat, though. |
