idle problems
i just bought my second mr2 after selling my first one. and it revs way lower than my first one. it revs at 1500 start up, but when it idles for a bit it goes down to about 800-900rpm and starts surging.
ive been told that there suppose to rev at 2000 then go down to 1500? Any suggestions to fix this problem? |

It may just need a tune up or the timing set. Normally they do rev up between 1.5k-2k but it should settle back down to 850-900. Or, just turn the idle screw a bit.
The surging could also indicate air in the cooling system. Last edited by Papo J; 07-16-2009 at 12:01 PM. |

Finally figured it out, i changed the spark plugs and coolant, but it was really a vacuum leak.
