idle problems

i just bought my second mr2 after selling my first one. and it revs way lower than my first one. it revs at 1500 start up, but when it idles for a bit it goes down to about 800-900rpm and starts surging.

ive been told that there suppose to rev at 2000 then go down to 1500?

Any suggestions to fix this problem?

It may just need a tune up or the timing set. Normally they do rev up between 1.5k-2k but it should settle back down to 850-900. Or, just turn the idle screw a bit.

The surging could also indicate air in the cooling system.

1500 is way to high for idle but as mentioned before try adjusting the idle screw and tune up.

Finally figured it out, i changed the spark plugs and coolant, but it was really a vacuum leak.
