No 2nd, 4th, and reverse gears
Ok pretty sure it has to do with the cables, but not sure how they work. Bought MR2 SC with homemade short shifter and it broke due to poor design. Installed new shifter from 86 wreck and it worked ok on short drive, but now does not enter into 2nd, 4th and reverse. Pretty sure this is where the issue is cause this is what I changed and because it seems odd that all the gears lost are on the bottom of the pattern. So how does it work and how do I adjust it to get all the gears?

Check to cable connectors from the shifter, to the anchors for the cable sheath all the way back to the engine bay.
The outer cable must be firmly anchored in at least two places between the stick shift and tranny shifter. |
